Some people are afraid of change. And, he has confidence in doing what he does. Taking a promotion scares him because a new role would mean he would need to learn new skills. He is afraid of failure. Failing himself, his employer and the customer.
Of course, not everyone wants to move up. They are a team player and do their best, but would rather not take a role where they are a leader/manager.
That's his life.

There is a restaurant down in Brunswick that is exactly like this but worse. All the waiters are black old men with bowties and at the request of the patrons can start singing for them. My yellow bougie aunt loved that place. I never want to go back there. I was uncomfortable.

This has me :dwillhuh:and :dead:at the same damn time..

What kinda slavery reenactment ass restaurant did y'all go to? :what:

And them dudes put up with this... Smh

I think it's called the Red Barn steakhouse in brunswick georgia. Anyone that's been to coastal southern cities knows that those places are like antebellum south before the civil war. One big ass swampy plantation.

He's literally fulfilling their sick, twisted ass Antebellum Southern servant fantasy :scust:

Paula Deen got in trouble when people found out she hired black people to dress like slaves at her restaurant in Charleston. :mjlol:

The question ain’t about white folks fantasy, it’s about what type of black people would degrade themselves and work in that position.

I have a problem with a buncha spoiled brats posting from their cushy office jobs calling him a c00n and whatever else to make fun of him for it.

Hes 72. This all he know. Dudes a busboy. Never wanted to be anything MORE than a busbiy. I cant work 60 minutes somewhere without thinking i could do better. He worked 60 YEARS. what exactly would you reccomend be done here. What you want him to own the joint? Go buy it for him then and make him boss. Idk what you want.
Breh, you’re so wrong. I can see if he was working hard and commuting miles so his CHILDREN can have a better life. But this old man’s GRANDSON is following in his decrepit footsteps for FIFTEEN years!! He’s teaching his own children to be subservient and never achieve anything better but to be a good boy for these white folks. That’s sacriledge. And slavery. Wage slavery but still slavery. He recruited it his own grandson to be in his subservient life. For fifteen years. That’s even more disgusting then the old man being a the bus boy for cacs. To lure your children in it and no one else to say that’s wrong?? Nah, this is not suppose to be respected. White people love seeing these stories of old men in menial positions being loyal to cacs. It reinforces their superiority. And he has in children following his footsteps?! That’s slavery.

What type of man encourages his child to work like that for fifteen years? He should’ve told them to be better than him. That’s what immigrants do. Bust their ass so their kids could live a better life in the second and third generation. Putting emphasis on education. This man didn’t instill that in his grandson. That’s what makes this story so disgusting....

I hear what you saying breh but there were a lot of black folks who came up from those same places that attended Dunbar, Wendell Phillips, Hyde Park, Englewood, and Lindbloom and went on to attend HBCU’s or one of the city universities.

It’s not so much his work ethic but the fact that he was comfortable with not wanting more. You yourself said you had relatives that did housework but they did it to send their kids to college. They wanted more for their children.

This dude has his grandson working there too....for 15 years at that. He doesn’t want more and he doesn’t see anything wrong with that thinking....in effect, passing that complacent attitude down to his children and grandchildren. That’s the issue I have.
Said it before I did. This story is appalling.

Asked why, after so many years, he never asked management for a less demanding job, why he stayed at the same pancake house so long, Loggan doesn’t register the question, as if those questions hadn’t been there in a long time. Ray Walker said he’s asked Loggan about advancing but “Loggan doesn’t want anything else — he’s said he’s fine where he is.” He said, “I think he views this as a place where he knows people, he’s safe and comfortable.” He said Loggan “was the complete opposite of a Black Panther kind of guy,” never an advocate or rabble rouser. He said that limited schooling “probably helped smooth out his world — I would doubt Loggan really ever dreamed about buying a Cadillac.”

I can’t believe this is an actual quote from the article :gucci:
