Everybody keeps saying homeless shelters. That shyt ain't always safe. Especially if you have young kids. I know of a few sexual assaults personally that have taken place. I believe I would've done the same shyt she did.

I literally do not, I have never even been to the website to sign up.
And I was pairing the two together, as opposed to her getting one or the other.
I honestly had no idea it was that bad, I just looked at the Cleveland Section 8 housing website and there were 249 listings "available now"
u dont even hafta go to the website to see, every yr when the waitlists open up they have news stories where ppl be trampling ppl to get on the waitlists sometimes.....might just be here tho

Those tend to have short periods of time you can live there.
Most have limits in a number of weeks.
Yea but they have programs in place to help you find a home. My cousin and her kids were in a homeless facility and they helped expedite her housing and they were out of there once they got approved .

That's definitely a "there" thing, that doesn't happen here. I pay fairly close attention to local news.

I distinctly remember reading about a number of families who moved into the Robert Taylor Homes almost immediately after they lost their sources of income, and the issue with Section 8 being how difficult it was to move from project area to project area, not how difficult it was to get into it.
I'm also fairly sure applications are given priority if there is homelessness and an "at risk" child.
Once again, I need to do more research on this.

yes u do, most big cities from what I know they only give priority to disabled n seniors, back in the day stayin at a homeless shelter would help low income housing but thats different than sect8, there are different programs, different reqmnts n different stipulations... i know these things cuz i stayed in the jets three years n it took me 5 yrs to get in it, n less than 2 to get kicked off due to too much income yet i wasnt really making shyt

The tone in this thread is weird though.
In every other race-related thread, brehs act like welfare and housing assistance "broke up the Black family/replaced the Black father"
Yet apparently it takes years to even get that assistance.
Is it Oochie-Wally or One Mic?

Assistance is "easy" to get when you're planning for it. Like if a woman gets pregnant and decides she wants assistance, it takes some time to process the paperwork. Things such as housing and daycare vouchers may take some time as well. It's not so easy in an emergency situation.

It doesn't take a lot of money for a woman to have beautiful healthy hair. I spend $50 2-3 times a year at the hairdresser and my hair is beautiful and long and healthy.

If I did it myself I would spend less than $50 a year.

If an otherwise healthy woman does not have healthy hair it's usually because she is doing too much. There are a lot of aint shyt hairdressers out here taking advantage of people. I admire her for not giving up. Most people do not truly have it made. No one should take anything for granted.
