I'm trying to understand what people enjoyed about this and I still haven't gotten anywhere. I almost like "picasso baby" but I would just rather listen to "So Ghetto" or some shyt like that.

It some hating ass nikkas in here. Your opinion is your opinion, but when keep saying the same thing OVER and OVER in 1 thread you just seem salty. And when you constantly reference dude by camel, it's even extra obvious.

It's like Nas fans are trying to assassinate the album preemptively because it some kind of threat. The overwhelming response that I have seen is positive from a consumer standpoint. From that angle I think Jay sells at least 300,000 his first week.

i still give it a 7.5 out of 10.. like a C+

don't turn Jay-z into Nas, lets not take everything he drops and compare it to his old shyt, he's not that person or that MC anymore. appreciate the fact that his super rich, 44 year old ass is still even releasing music for us to critique. the album is definitely extremely highfalutin and fancy in terms of subject matter, and his bars aren't what they once were, but be real, he's still better than almost everybody out.

3/5 on first spin. will do well in the clubs for the time being but like others have said, i don't see myself revisiting any of this music in a year or so, except maybe the beyonce joint.

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
Funny thing about this...is..I like it..and I thought a lot of the Jay Z heads around me was gonna be ODin on it..but most people I know either doesn't like it or likes the beats more than the rhymes...they feel like the nikka half assed the album...the more I listen the more I feel where they comin from tho...it doesn't feel like its gonna have too much replay value..like I said in another thread...atleast BP3 had certain tracks like Thank You that legit stood out to be one of his best songs of the era...he had a few songs on Kingdom Come like that as well...he doesn't really have anything like that on this album imo and I think that's what's gonna def bring the album down for me...

Powerful post.

But the truth is, all these overnight Nas fans expose themselves in these threads. They get on Jay for his content and claim that this album has all these "struggle bars and flows", but then tout Nas' I Am as an album MCHG can't fukk with. But the dude could barely get through tracks like "Big Things" with what he used to call his "down south flow". And I loved that album, but let's be real. He rapped pretty exclusively about money, bytches, cars, mansions, haters, etc. on "Money Is My bytch", "Hate Me Now", "You Won't See Me Tonight", "K-I-SS-I-N-G", "Dr. Knockboot", mad tracks. And that's just on one album. Nas is no diffferent than Hov with his career's content. He's been rhymin' about the same shyt as Hov since '96 too, with several political themes mixed in there.

These cats are not real Nas fans. They just hate Jay. I remember what Mef said about this, he said, "Jay-Z makes them feel insecure about their shyt, and "Ether" gave them a voice. It gave them something to latch onto and ride out with. You should have been down with Nas before that". And I remember how these same dudes back on SOHH used to make all these "Nas is corny" threads and "Nas needs to retire" joints. They just needed someone to align themselves with, and Nas just happened to be the one that had "beef" with Hov. True Nas fans understand that these two have very similar catalogues content-wise. It's just that Hov has way more visibility and projects a lot more personality in his songs. But Nas is no anti-Jay-Z.

:heh: Yea you're pulling shyt out of your loose ass. I've never denied giving out verbal ass whippings. Any of you can get this work. I deny shytting on people or throwing hissy fits over people's personal opinions regarding quality of music. I dont do what Blackthoughts did. So go back and try again, c00n-boy.

 You are such a stupid delusional fukk. Lol@"verbal asswhippings." You are nothing more than dust mite droppings on Jay-Z's scrotum. You are a multiyear running bad joke on sohh and the coli that stopped being funny a long time ago. Even other Jay fans are ashamed of you.

Your existence here is dedicated to calling people fakkits, bytches, pussies, etc. for not engulfing copious amounts of camel semen. You seriously come off as a deranged individual in desperate need of help because you literally get mad at people for not liking Jay-Z, and try to use amateur psychoanalysis to explain why people don't view Jay-Z in the same manner in which a 4 year old boy views his mommy like you do.

And you have a made-up quote from me in your sig, while in reality, you really did brag about how you heard Jay was "packing" on sohh. :russ: That's a microcosm of how you project the shame you have about yourself onto other posters when you call them names.

I can only imagine how deficient in so many areas of life you are to be this miserable, hateful, and emotionally dedicated to a rapper.

A lot of over analysis. Dope beats, dope rhymes. If you have a problem with him bragging then that's your fault. That's what he does, and he does it well. That's like expecting Future to spit a hot 16 and getting disappointed.

I give a 6.5/10 off a first listen and predict it won't have much replay value.

This album is like Chinese food....looks good, taste good but goes right through ya and make you hungry for something else.
