Be honest with yourselves...how many of these joints will you be bumping 1-2 years from now? Forget the standard Jay set for himself, how about making a record with some longevity. Music that doesn't sound corny as hell or boring as fukk after the initial buzz of hearing Jay spit wears off. I don't expect classics from Jay...just music I can bump a few years from now and still appreciate the music.

So someone like Young Jeezy who is said to have good production, but raps about absolutely nothing... his albums are at least a 4? lol

if the production is really good and he at least brings some energy to the music, then yes

Hard to put numbers on albums anymore but its good.

Production is cold in the car and I don't even have a system. Lyrics to some degree are being overlooked, flow is as well. He is in the pocket on a lot of tracks but you can't hear it on laptop output IMO, Tom Ford is an example.

I ran thru it once... theres nothing about it that is calling me back to it. It feels like KC2. He still didn't get the bass back in his voice. First impressions are a strong 2 out of 5. This won't be getting added to the rotation. I am going to try it again though, maybe through the home & car systems instead of the headphones.

What I find odd, is hearing that Guru didn't work on this album with Hov.

Dude was notorious for layering Jay's vocals to make him sound like he has more bass in his voice than he does. Maybe that's why he sounds so high-pitched on this joint. But it's wild that there was no Ye' or Just Blaze involvement on this. Swizz was all up in the commercials and barely got a look on the album. LOL!! This was basically a Jay-Z/Timbaland album. The one cats have always wanted.

Crazy because I thought he finally went through puberty again. Most of his shyt post BA he sounds like Bugs Bunny, even on some AG tracks.

Anyone expecting Jay to drop a Classic on his 12 LP is reaching. But compare "Magna Carta" to the rest of the game and tell me Jay Z still doesn't have it.

some really hot tracks, but sometimes sounds sort of like a timbaland album ft. jay-z.

at other times it feels like a commercial for jay-z rather than music.

he is treating art like a new jesus piece/rolls royce thing, which is sort of sad.

feel like you could switch the lyrics from any song to any beat and it would make as much sense. he doesn't have the impeccable delivery/flow/confidence from 96-01 to pull it off as well as he did before.

a lot of beats are good, but a lot of times I wish i didn't have to listen to jay-z over them.

thse are all personal things. it's good enough that i couldn't hold it against someone for loving.

The infinite excuses for the jigga man. You got alot of "old" rappers who still bring it lyrically. But why does Jay have to be creative when his fans enjoy when he rhymes about euro brands and maybachs? Longevity? For how long can a rapper rhyme about how much better his life is with his money and his fame?

The album is weak because we heard you jigga. You have millions and beyonce. What else you have to say?
