Well, maybe I'm splitting hairs, but I always found proper DLC to be a better value (or at least a more transparent transaction) than these "fake premium currency" scams. Mario Kart 8's $20 DLC gave us 64 tracks (albeit remastered from older titles with a couple news ones) and a couple new characters.

$20 GTAV in sharkbucks gives you a couple Lamborghinis and clothes for your virtual character. $20 in NBA 2K gives you VC so your avatar can have a slightly higher chance at dunking successfully..until the next 2K is released and you have to buy that stat upgrade again.

I think the content in question matters. But hey, the market has spoken: Take Two's micro transactions are a roaring success and they're a Fortune 500 company now. WTF do I know

There's enough people in this world where gaming is quite literally their life. Hours upon hours daily. For people who do nothing but gaming when they get off from work, I imagine that an extra $20 here and there is nothing to them. They aren't spending that money on going out etc.

I can't imagine doing it for all these games when I barely play anymore but I can see why microtransactions are a success.

I mainly play GTA for single player, and after the quadrillion or so $$$ they made from 5 online, I have no doubt that most of their effort will be wrapped up in the online content while offline suffers. I have no problem waiting for it to go on sale if they lose their minds and make this $100. I got other shyt to play.
