Ask yourself, with all the label drama Prince has gone thru, is he legally allowed to perform those songs? I heard at one point during his NO NAME phase he was literally recreating his songs cuz the label wouldn't come off them masters.
Yes he can, he performs other songs from those albums. From what I've heard it's pretty much pot luck on what songs you will hear at his shows now. Purple Rain gets left off a lot as apparently he doesn't really care for the song anymore. Some people paid 1000 bucks to see him at the recent Atlanta show and there were some definite boos when he left the stage.
He seems adamant on trying to force people to like his new shyt. After the concert they were handing out his latest cd and I saw folks refusing it once they saw what it was.
