Bret was always a better wrestler than Hogan and Flair
He helped MAKE HBK and Austin
He helped guide a young Dwayne to greatness
Bret basically had to build the WWE up from scratch because Hogan walked out and Flair never put him over on TV. He started from the bottom floor when Hogan and Flair BOTH had people to put them over as legit. It's not out of line to put Bret as #5 but he should be in EVERYONE'S top ten

Bret becoming the bitter angry ex wrestler is part of what makes it easy for cats to dismiss his body of work because nobody wants to hear most of that whining shyt.
Were his matches formulaic? Damn right. Most of the greats had a formula they followed in ring. Period. King of the ring 93 makes it difficult to deny that dude his place.
Once he stopped trying to be a damn white meat baby face in 97 and let that rage out he proved he could talk. He could work with bigs, techys, brawlers etc, he's got classic feuds and matches under his belt. As shytty as a lot of the 92-95 new generation stuff was him being a fighting defending champ was refreshing.
Not mad at the OP's opinion but Bret being in some folks top 5 isn't some wild stretch at all.

One thing is for sure..they'll always love Bret more than Shawn Michaels. For the rest of our lives. That's never gonna change. Rock/Austin/Hogan are a different category all together. Undertaker is someone I would favor more than Hart easily but Bret's best ring work is better than Calloway's technically. And this is all possible only because Benoit went mad and people don't want to give him credit anymore..he was better than Bret outright as well.
