I don't think him being in the streets was his downfall. I think it was the lean. Think about the reason most people rock with beans is because he's a real dude. Dude is official so that's why he had fans too the lean slowed his career down and changed him for the worse imo.

That definitely could have played a big part also, but you can't deny the negative effect the legal troubles and street sh!t had on his career.

He was just too ingrained in the streets. One of my favorite MCs ever. He rapped like a hungry grizzly bear that just got released out of a cage and he could get really introspective and candid. He once compared himself with Ice Cube on track and that's a pretty good comparison. Also...he was the only Roc artist who routinely was on par, or eclipsed, Jigga on tracks. What a fvcking talent. Shoulda had a Top 10 MC career.
