That's wild that's all they could get for him. Teams must really be rating McCarthy high as hell cause if I'm a team with a bad QB I'd be all over Fields for that low of a pick.
The problem is Fields is a low level QB
He's a 1 Read Andy and take fukking forever to get the ball out
He has great running ability so it masks how poor of a QB he actually is but even then he gets beat up a lot with the hits he takes

It was a game of chicken, why would I give up any sort of substantial pick when I know :

- youre drafting a QB at 1
- you want to avoid the awkward situation of both being in the building at the same time
- Fields realistically has 1 year left on his deal because no one is picking up that 5th year option based on his current resume (The Darnold Panthers trade killed this scenario moving forward)

Chicago had no leverage and everyone knew it, better to rip the bandaid off and move on rather than create unnecessary drama dragging it out.
