If the ball hadnt been intercepted Lynch would have scored on the very next play. All wilson had to do was not throw an interception and they wouldve had 2 plays in a row to run it from the 1 yard line

Fair enough but still makes absolutely no sense when you have lynch as your running back with about 22 seconds on the clock, a timeout and you at the 1yrd line... It just makes no logical sense.. Why not just give the ball to lynch again so he could've punched it in.. They don't have enough faith in the defense for 2 plays? I'm sure Brady would've had like 15 seconds left

The logic behind it (which isnt all that sound given the reality), was that you would get 3 plays that were not being rushed (or hurried, no pun). If they had ran on 2nd down and didnt make it for whatever reason, they wouldve used their last time out. On third down you run again and dont make it, then you are rushing the 4th down play and it would be chaotic racing against the clock with no way to stop it
