Get you a piece of hardware.

You're like me when I started damn near 2 decades ago.

I don't want to be looking at a computer, using a mouse or even a qwerty keypad.

Especially if you have any sort of job today. Being cooped up in front of a laptop/desktop/ipad isn't the wave.

Especially when your trying to get your creativity flowing.

Music is about the limitations. But once you master your limits you can work outside the box.

It's better for you to have one single piece of equipment and run that shyt to the max, know it inside and out until you physically cannot do anymore then look to expand vs starting with something too powerful, too many sounds/samples, features. That's how you drown. It's too overwhelming.

I don't think you want to hear that. I don't think you want to purchase a standalone piece of equipment that'll allow you to make music and Tinker. But if you're serious about it, that's the way to go.
What’s an entry level mpc ?

You already have it mpk. With the same software as the mpc and similar functionality. Getting something new won't "improve" your lack of rhythm. Drumming on a set instead of finger drumming won't improve your rhythm. Practise would on anything...

:pachaha:

To think the premise of this thread is that finger drumming is too hard so a drum set is easier.

They are all entry level.

Granted some have a lot more features than others.

The basics are all the same.

I'm not going to get into all the specs. But long story short. If you can't come up with say 6 tracks (melody, bass, drums) and mix them together and put together a song or a beat then you absolutely don't need 25,000 samples 800 tracks, 60 minutes of sample time, 16 effect channels and 50+ vsts.

Get you something you can turn on and zone in on.
mpc live 2.

you could get an older mpc, but the live 2 will be easier and less tedious. they goin for around $900 on ebay and reverb.

Breh just get you some hardware and bang the pads :why:

You clearly don’t have a real passion for making beats cause you haven’t been creating.
Easy for you to say when you don’t make struggle beats. As much as I enjoy today’s sound my biggest gripe besides struggling with drums is that my favorite producers are masters of flipping samples.

That shyt is damn near rocket science, I tried recreating Timbo’s beat for Ginuwine’s Sorry. Idk how the fukk he took that part off Stevie’s and made it loop like that. I tried and it’s shyt

I used to have a big ass like bongo type drum..

But only ever made beats on FL so it wasn't ever "playing" as much as laying out different patterns on different sounds. Adding and removing "notes" til I had something.

I don’t make struggle beats now because I made struggle beats in the past. It’s impossible to make dope beats without making struggle beats first lol. And every beat I make ain’t dope. Some of that shyt weak. You make more and move on. You gotta put in your work and time like everyone else. Some people it just come quicker than others but everyone gotta put in work.

I can sit down and make a beat in 15 minutes if everything flowing right. I had some people over here amazed at how quick I put together a beat right in front of them. Every time I get that reaction I make it a point to explain to people it took YEARS to be able to sit down and make some dope shyt effortlessly. YEARS nikka.

Everyone makes struggle beats. The goal is to find something to improve on, and make it slightly better with the next beat. Just focus heavily on one aspect of a beat, and learn the techniques to improve it.

If you're going to try to recreate something, do something simple. Timbaland is way too complicated.

Rozay is obsessed with being a student of the game. He think he supposed to be studying the greats. He like the idea of being a producer more than the literal act of making music. I believe he lacks the passion to get over the frustrating hurdles that come with learning how to make beats. Most people who invest in equipment end up letting that shyt collect dust. They get too frustrated with not getting good quick enough.
