Im using Reason and an Akai MPK Mini 3.

Anyways I’m trying to I wouldn’t say recreate since I want to add my own spin on the drum programming.

Damn Timbaland snapped :wow:

I got the sample and decent drums too so I’m not using stock drums.

I understand kick starts on the 1 and goes to the 4 afterwards.
Snare on the 3.
When it comes to hi hats, even quantized it don’t sound tough. Sounds trash. Advice please.

Tag any producers please.

Double the tempo and do everything in double time, that's what Timbo did. That Ginuwine song is 130bpm but it sounds like it's 65bpm. Use note repeat on the hihats.
I did research like look up the ginuwine song and the sample as well thanks to battune. I was gonna change the key like it said but when I did it didn’t sound right and leaving the sample as it is actually sounds like the ginuwine song. Both are 130bpm. Now I’m lost at the rest of your post.

Ok I’m try that after I get some sleep in. Stayed up all night thinking I could make a demo song. Was going to rip off ginuwine singing cadence and even add a bridge lol. As for the kick (1 and 4s) and snare (on the 3s) is that good? What are they in double time? You got resources for explaining this double time and etc. I don’t want to constantly asking for help.

This helped the lil I know

You could use the metronome in your DAW to figure out the BPM. I usually count the hi hats to help. They only seem to speed up after the second snare. The time signature still sounds like 4/4 to me. It definitely has a swing to it. Timbaland did snap on that one though.

Bro you need to study a lil basic music theory if you serious about this otherwise you always gonnna feel lost
I know scales and chords. I practice a new one for a whole week and it’s chords. Also keep the number system and formulas in mind too. (1-3-5, 1-3-5-7, etc. wwhwwwh, etc).
When it comes to rhythm idk shyt, put me on king please.

Timbo stay stunnin! Sorry Not Sorry by Bryson Tiller still fire!
I use the metronome but I’m very new to drum programming. I just mess around on my keyboard and sing to myself. I didn’t know drum programming was this hard.

I’d say get a demo version of fl studio to play around with

You can programme drums manually in the piano roll and they layout will help you visualise the breakdown between bars, beats, steps, etc

practice enough and you’ll be able to ‘see’ a drum pattern when you listening to it
