Try recreating some of your favorite beats. You will get better over time, don't give up, keep pressing the mark. I do everything on my phone nowadays using Koala Sampler.
How does that work. I played with that app long time ago. Only recorded my own beatbox drums lol. Are you chopping and flipping samples on that simple thing?

All of the above.
Get the samurai update.
Import your own samples "I sample straight from vinyl into koala using that Uca222 interface". You can lazy chop, resample, time stretch, you can even edit notes in the playlist for your sequences.
It has different scales. You can take one shots and spread them across the keyboard! You can use midi controllers.
I'm missing mad shyt but this is off the top of my head.

Can't get better if you don't put in the time. :gucci:

There was a moment in my life where I wanted to do this as a career. I did it, realized my style wasn't money making, and quit. But I put in the hours and eventually my beats became better in the end. I did have a mentor who was doing it too, so he helped me out. I still have my MV. I haven't touched it in years, but making beats was/is fun, and I do plan to use it again. :ld:

I have that and reason 12
Been relearning it, scroll up some posts to hear the beat I’m making following the tutorial just showing me how to use the daw

Reason doesn't seem like it's easy to use.

If you want something easy that you can just hop on and knock out beats I suggest you get Serato Studio. You can just drag a sample in and it'll slice it up or you can do it manually. It also puts every sound in key so you don't have to worry about that.

For a beginner I strongly suggest you get it. Complicated software is usually what makes a beginner struggle.

I want to keep learning Reason. I downloaded serato studio tho

@Rozay Oro

You gotta quit playin, and start playin.

I started on reason 1 around the time the shyt came out, didn't like fruity loops cause it was different, then copped an mpc 2000 then the 2000xl, at some point I looked back into what became FL Studios, but I realized.......once you learn the basics and fundamentals of one piece of hardware or software...it's all the same no matter what you use.

4/4 time signature is the same no matter what you use.

Changing the bpm is the same no matter what you use.

Laying down notes or melodies is the same no matter what you use.

All the basic stuff is the same.

You turn on your metronome and lay down your drums, kick, snare, hats. Keep looping over until the shyt sounds good to you.

Or start with some dope sounds/packs/instruments and lay down a melody/lead or bassline, then add your kick, or snare, claps, hats.....

Learn to layer. Start with a bass, then add some keys, then some drums, or some drums then bass, then keys, or whatever. Just start somewhere.

Where it's going to get advanced is time stretching, sampling in different vsts/programs or hardware, shyt even filtering for the most part is the same no matter what you use.

In the beginning its all the same.

I'm actually going out in the morning and seeing if this Roland mv 8800 is still available, it's been sitting in a pawn shop for years. Right now I have an mpc 4000 and I'd love to add it to my collection.

Just start.

You don't need to worry about making piff, you need to focus on making anything.

shyt either play twinkle twinkle little star on the keys then add a kick and snare and make it hip hop or sample twinkle twinkle little star then add your own drums. Then just remove the sample and see if your shyt makes sense/sounds good, is quantized then improvise.

That's a start.

What type of music you tryin to make? Hip hop? Rap? Gangsta rap? R&b? Trap? Drill?
Mainly hip hop.
In the long run all of them, want to be versatile as possible in black music for the love of it. Also be secondary source of income, even if it’s small.
