Democrats Want to Tackle Reparations, but Joe Biden Isn't So SureInsult black voters brehs
what these clowns don’t realize is Black voters are progressive on race and conservative on everything else
black folk have history behind them, and they cannot take a chance on trump for 4 more years and can’t trust white folk to do the right thing when it comes to voting.. It’s one of the reasons why black folk don’t Bernie at all and Latinos all of a sudden on the Bernie train.. y’all talking about giving Latinos free college and Medicare at the expense of the tax payer yet Bernie when confronted about reparations he says it’s a divisive issue...
Black folk voting to get trump completely out the paint period..
There's some history here. In 1975, when he was a 32-year-old U.S. senator, Biden opposed busing, then an extremely hot-button issue in the battle to desegregate schools. He also seemed to broadly reject the idea of reparations. "I do not buy the concept, popular in the '60s, which said, 'We have suppressed the black man for 300 years and the white man is now far ahead in the race for everything our society offers. In order to even the score, we must now give the black man a head start, or even hold the white man back, to even the race. I don't buy that," Biden told a Delaware newspaper that year, in comments recently unearthed by the Washington Post. He added, "I don't feel responsible for the sins of my father and grandfather. I feel responsible for what the situation is today, for the sins of my own generation. And I'll be damned if I feel responsible to pay for what happened 300 years ago."
Bernie Sanders Earns Applause Opposition to Reparations at NAACP Forum
Sanders explained his support for Rep. James Clyburn’s (D-SC) 10/20/30 legislation, and his willingness to sign HR 40, which would create a commission to study reparations.
“Here’s my fear about reparations, and I understand the issue, and I’m on board the legislation that will study the issue,” Sanders said. “Here’s my fear. The Congress gives African American community $20,000 check, and say ‘Thank you, that took care of slavery, we don’t have to worry about anything more.’ I think that’s wrong, I want to build, rebuild the distressed communities in America.”
For what it's worth both have said that they support the study of reparations
