If you don't go to school can you still become a preacher/televangelist? How do you accomplish that?

I am broke and want to be a preacher.

oddly enough historically the most intelligent members (literate could read and write) and wealthy members of our past society were all priests, reverends, etc.

so being a member of the clothe was a privilege, been a Priest back then was sort after like being a rich senator now ... nothing but power.

men of the clothe were the only people who could read and write, so the scriptures had even more power back then.

A close friend of mine became a pastor and didnt go to college. I do believe there is some sort of training/educational program that is available and accepted by some churches but I imagine every church is different
@BigScust what type of denomination is your friend a pastor of? Baptist? Also if possible could you ask him what type of training/educational program he did to become a pastor?

My (former) best friend is a "youth pastor", iirc, he's preaching with Bethel or Hillsong, one of those "charismatic" denominations these days, but I'd go to a sermon now and then when he was at a smaller, local church, and they were nothing but empty, positive bullshyt with bible verses sprinkled on.

The audience was mostly female, again, young with some elderly people who wanted something to do on a friday night, if that helps.

At the back of my head, one went like:

"We're in such a rush these days, we forget the Bible, we forget the Bible was given to the world, before technology, God wants us to move slowly and remember him. It's OK to take a Sabbath, before the Sabbath"

If you can be Tony Robbins with a bible, you'd be straight in any pentecostal/charismatic sect
@Drinky Crow did your former best friend need a college education to become a pastor?

I don’t think that men that are not whole and well-balanced should become ministers/priest.

Being put into a position of leadership where you will have access to people and money will only exacerbate the issues that you have if you did not come into ministry whole.

Those type of ministers cause a lot of trauma and damage that turns many people away from the faith.

If you are having issues in your life to where you’re anything but flourishing mentally, physically, spiritually, financially, and relationally, I would implore you to tackle those things first before you seek out ministry.

There are other ways you can get involved in the Church while you work on yourself if you feel compelled to a life of service to God. But just because you feel compelled to a life of service to God does not mean you’re fit for leadership.

It was a joke!

The church he's at now eventually paid his tuition for a Online bible university, but to become a pastor? Naw, keep in mind I said eventually, his fiancee invited him to service years ago and he was consistent with attendance, volunteering, etc for quite sometime until he was asked to fill in for a sermon and he just kept at it for a long ass minute

Most important thing is that he's in the pentecostal/charismatic/holy roller denomination/s

You know that if you really wanted to become a pastor you could just declare yourself one.

You obviously don't go to church or even grew up in one because you know that a lot of preachers announce that they have been "called" To preach work with their pastor then at some point be allowed to give a sermon. You could be an associate pastor at an established church for years or the rest of your life especially if you become an evangelist and do outreach to certain groups like say Homeless people, Prisoners or gang members

The only problem with that is that People can sense bullshyt

Chances are your evangelizing will go like this:

If you're Pastor allows it you could evangelize ex hoes. but the chances that you'll get exposed is easier than trying to baptize a crip.

OR You could just declare that you're a preacher get one of those correspondance course degrees and become a street evangelist and get a building fund started and buy a store front church.

BUT if you can't convince a bytch to fukk how are you gonna convince her to give you a tenth of her salary?

You'rre biggest problem is that you're literally a Boy. You ask people a zillion questions about major life decisions on the internet. Why don't you ask your Mother? Don't you have anyone who cares about you that you trust?

Or do the people who know you best think that you're crazy?

You work at a Pizza Parlor, If your boss didn't think you could do the job or thought that you would rob him or sabotage the business he wouldn't have hired you. If you have no friends your Boss is the closet thing to a friend that you have.

There's Tons of resources on the internet to help people like you this is the best most answer for people like you

You are right I didn't grow up in church. There is a church in my hometown I want to go to. Once I start going how long would I need to attend before I could become an associate pastor?

Creflo Dollar only started with 8 people when he began:

Dollar began developing World Changers Ministries Christian Center in 1986.[6] He held the church's first worship service in the cafeteria of Kathleen Mitchell Elementary School in College Park, with eight people in attendance.

You don't have to go to school..school is something to get you in debt for years on end. Know what you want to do..learn it by trial and error...don't make a irresponsible investment to get there though. It's about being smart.

Hold the fukk up...you're a preacher :mjtf:
