just went to the C-town damn like all the hamburger meat is gone from the shelves :picard:

EDIT: i did find a few packs one for 4. 7. and 6 and change respectively but i just bought some sweet sausages for like 2.50 :ld:
Whenever I get the chance to make it to NYC, that is gonna be one of my stops just because I heard Nas and other rappers say it in a song. A grocery store:pachaha:

But yeah, these prices are ridiculous. Earlier this week, I went to Kroger to buy some ground beef and all they really had was a 3lb pack for $19 smh. I put it in the freezer. Shít's so expensive, that might be my plan. See some type of meat in the store, buy it, and throw it in the freezer.

Walmarts are nice for incidentals, but as far as meat and poultry, I rarely source from there. Usually, where I'm at I should say, they aren't very competitively priced versus Frys (kroger) and albersons/safeway. Those typically have sales, or maybe more accurately, seasonal pricing fluctuations. But Walmart doesn't usually do that, i mean like memorial day or labor day sales to push meat for bbqing for example

Fortunately FTC struck down the kroger/Albertsons merger (Albertsons acquired safeway/vons years ago). That would not have improved things for consumers. We have a few other grocers and niche markets like "farmers markets" but their overall market share is small

Going vegan has honestly been such a great decision lately. This is yet another reason. I was Pescatarian the last couple years.

It was ~33% cheaper going vegan even before all these raised prices. Money right into the stock market for me.

33% more money going in affected by 10% compound interest on the stock market, that adds up a whole lot later.

Processing this today, and will grind most of it after cutting some flat irons and some stew meat.
Whole shoulder clod subprimal. Along with the chuck roll, the two make up the chuck primal of a processed cow. Grocers buy these and break them down into individual cuts and grinds available for sale. They call that fabricating.

Even on the commercial side, youre paying double that now than 2-3 years ago. I could save a few cents a pound buying a full box, but i didn't have the capacity right now for 80lbs. Economies of scale always matter

I eat pork too (didn't grow up eating it) and honestly, I gotten exhausted lately. Mostly cause i eat it more frequently as prices for it haven't been as egregious as beef right now. I really only buy ribs and pork butt, I don't buy it in any other forms except bacon/pepperoni and occasional sausage (pause if necessary).

But interestingly, unexplainably, ribs have stayed somewhat the same price, they are still discounted on holidays, while pork butt(shoulder) has been 2x-3x for some time now and not reduce in similar fashion.
I've also been interested in beef bacon and pepperoni but have not bought those before as they are somewhat hard to find (here) or priced ridiculously.
Damn, I love lamb and enjoy goat but rarely see it in my $ range, so less familiar
Edit- with that lamb, I bet a nice Persian or turkish style kafta kebob would compliment that tzaziki. I've been experimenting with those regional flavors recently. Love that lentil soup

Is this helpful to you?

If you have a halal or kosher butcher in the area, you can find it there, possibly cheaper.

I'm slowly working my way through Asian cuisine, starting from the east and working my way west, spice cabinet looking crazy. I'm thinking about using lazy susans to group them by cuisine.
