you're a fakkit troll but i was thinking the same thing recently.

I'm working on a deal with a dude from spain and its pretty impressive how he can adapt to the business dynamic here verbally and through email. obviously its not perfect but its better than most idiotic americans. these cacs were like "hows his english" when we first started this project. :snoop:
Yeah we Americans are dumb. I work in Germany and a joke I always tell to break the ice is:
"What do you call a person that speaks two languages? Bilingual
What do you call a person that speaks one language? American "

....
Yeah but have you mastered either language. It's amazing how many native language speakers do not use proper grammar.

Americans? Where they do that at? Maybe an American that's living in China for the past 3-5 years... and I didn't say it was impossible.... I said you must be a savant....
I know a gang of Americans and other non-Chinese who learned mandarin as adults breh

I work in international ed so my sample size is unique but then again you said nothing of where they live or where they're from so let's keep goal posts where they are. Teaching Chinese dialects of major cities is a huge industry within other industries given how much trade China does

I have a colleague in Shanghai who makes most of her money teaching mandarin to Japanese businessmen :yeshrug:

Igbo, centralized dialect (the kind they teach in schools)

I could always understand it, but never spoke it when I was young. Parents wanted us to "succeed" so they spoke only English around us.
Yeaaars later, I had to teach myself.

Now my parents are mad at me cuz I don't speak their dialect :dwillhuh:

You had 20+ years to teach me, now you mad cuz I say dalu around you? :dame:

But my igbo is getting really :flabbynsick:. Most of the 9ja people my age only know "biko" and "kedu" :francis:

Can you write in Igbo too? I've been teaching myself how to speak both of my parents' dialects but I still have no clue how to write it.
