That's the exposal. He admits as much in his tweet. Because the questions were coming from someone he was personally unfamiliar he jumped into defensive mode. The type of responses he and other conservatives give is based directly on the speaker and audience.
If he knew dude was a conservative (by UK standards) he wouldn't softened his rhetoric and tried to smooth talk his way out of his abortion stance. Shapiro and his ilk do that to subconsciously assure conservative listeners that it's ok to hold those views and "still be a good person." But when it's a liberal interviewer the purpose of him being antagonistic is to showcase liberal bias and attacks on conservatism.
It's an act.
This is why conservative media has a singular viewpoint. If you show there is another way to be a conservative, then you water down American conservatism.
