The interviewer was definitely trying to chop him down
A lot of people who don't follow the BBC or UK journalism aren't getting that this is how they conduct many of their interviews - "devil's advocacy". You'll even see Neil try to slow Ben down and explain to him that if Ben was pro-choice he'd be getting asked questions on the other end of the spectrum.
But it was too late, the reptile part of Ben's brain locked into confrontation mode. It should have been light work for an actually intellectual debater to respond to Neil. But it turned into Ben pulling out his
Youtube Debate Tricks that works on unprepared college kids and gets ad clicks. So he started name-calling Neil a leftist (laughable) and talking about how much more popular he is than Neil (as if anyone in the damn UK knows wtf Ben Shapiro is).
The even sadder part is that even tho Ben went on twitter and took the L, a lot of people are still saying "The journalist was trying to be antagonistic!"
