Ben Simmons is finally a PF and no longer a PG

How will this work out for Philly?

  • It will make them better

  • It will make them worse

  • No difference

Initially, I thought 'ok makes sense'

Upon further thought though this cause some issues first off, even though he's not much of a jumpshooter. he's elite pretty much everywhere else. Also just because he moves to PF it won't mean much if he can't shoot.

There's no reason he can't be one of the best off-ball bigs in the league as well as one of the best passers.

The biggest problem with the Ben at PG stuff was that he was ball dominant - and it allowed defenses to double OFF of the primary ballhandler. That's one of the most absurd uphill battles you can create for an NBA offense. If he's still getting touches AFTER the offense is initiated, it only benefits the team.

And it doesn't force him to confront his demons or whatever and actually shoot the ball from distance regularly

The move is past due. The blueprint has been around for ages for all types of point forwards.

Eh.... I was more talking about Odom, Pippen, Webber, etc. Can't really disagree though.

Giannis has an entirely different set of problems because his team is constructed dramatically different while he's also far more assertive.

Those are good comparisons too, but to me Ben and Giannis both play like hyper-athletic 7'-ers with all-around (:skip:) skill, where Odom and Pippen didn't play as big, and Webb didn't have the ability to be a primary ball handler at the rest's level. I'm just saying I think he could flourish around the same way as Giannis if he had the mindset and like I said in an earlier post his own team built around him. I don't think he'll change it up to be that level of assertive any time soon, but just. shoot. the. fukkin. ball

Kinda fukked up that Ben Simmons is risking the future of his coach that knew him since he was a boy by not even trying to shoot the ball.

also fukked up that he’s messing up the team’s flow by refusing to shoot

They still haven't addressed the root cause of the issue. The real solution is picking between Simmons and Embiid and shipping the one you don't want long term off for a better fitting part.

The crazy thing is if either Simmons or Embiid had their own team with a bunch of 3 & D players & a stretch big (like Giannis for the Bucks) either team would be legit title contenders and you’d truly see how great both players are. I truly believe both have potential to be top 10 players in the league but it can NEVER happen together. Simmons being a non shooter forces Embiid to play the stretch role which he is not really good at and prevents him from dominating completely in the paint.

Brand ruined Hinkie’s vision. Kudos to Ben for going along with this even though I still believe he’ll be the primary handler.

To me Simmons is a rich man's Billy Owens(one of the first Magic comparison)
Magic was never a great shooter either, but learning to control the high post and mid range like Magic with his athleticism could open their offense....

I think the Sixers would do great adopting 1994-1998 Pistons offense with Simmons playing a Grant Hill role and Embiid with Terry Mills with more touches role...
