Simmons isn’t overrated, he’s overvalued. Good player but let’s be real. It’s obvious but ppl still gloss over it: he’s a very good player. It’s just his one limitation is the EXACT worst limitation to have in the modern nba. The biggest credit to having a star is when it’s a one possesion game and the final possesion of the game is coming up, you want your best player with the ball in his to create a shot. Analytics says that if that player doesn’t drive and kick, then 8/10 that last shot will be a jump shot. In this scenario you can’t trust Simmons in that situation.
I’ll sayin hit again: I’m glad Houston didn’t take the Philly package. Nothing against Simmons but I don’t think he’s as valuable of a piece as his price tag commands and he definitely isn’t supermax value. I didn’t want to have to deal with that.
