hes 4 years in, he is what he is at this point. That jumpshot is not coming and I’m fine with that. That’s why we added shooters to the team.

He's been getting voted onto the AS team and the defensive awards by coaches/media voters. Fans and the media at large (ie: ones without a vote) constantly criticize him. How is that being overrated

I can name a thousand million players who aren’t Allen iverson and can still make an open jumper when it’s needed
The last time he played in the playoffs was 2 seasons ago. He's a lot more savvy scoring now since he's better at scoring around the basket and more willing to draw fouls and go to the free throw line.

Not just that, potentially the best defensive player in the NBA and he's giving you 16-8-8 on 55% shooting.Possibly the best defensive player in the NBA but is overrated?
I mean, prime Jason Kidd was a horribly inefficient and low-volume scorer and yet he was an MVP candidate because of his defense and passing. No one calls Ben Simmons an MVP candidate, so I don't see how it's overrating him to say that he's a solid all-star who is going to lock up your best player, rebound well, make elite passes, and give you an efficient 15-16 points.
Maybe he could jack up an extra 15 shots a game and only make 5 of them, then he'd be posting Westbrook-level numbers PLUS the elite defense....would that make him more worthy of respect?
Most fans know what's up but certain sections of the media still try to force the narrative that he's a top 15 NBA player.
If he flops in the playoffs this year there can be no excuses. He'll be getting shipped out ASAP.
