I'm a say it. I think they should start to slow down. They have enough material to make a classic LP.
I love what I've heard and it's clear Benny and Conway (moreso) are improving. But the truly greats take 2+ year album breaks. Build up real demand. Imagine if we all waited one year for 1 Griselda project..it would prolly get more attention, be engineered better, and actually sell/stream more.
I know ppl. scared of losing engagement but then u gotta ask urself, if ur product is that microwavable, is it truly as great as it could be?
Fundamentally I agree with you, and I think benny and Conway wanted to switch to this model. I mean Benny went 18 months between Plugs and Burden. Over-saturation is a real thing, especially with limited content. That was big reason cats got tired of 50, despite him arguing otherwise.
Covid has really fukked things up though. Artists can't tour, and a big reason we got insanely stacked weekly drops in 2020 (with no signs of slowing) is because artists can't tour right now due to social distancing, and they've gotta try to make it up by releasing more music. That's another reason there have been so many re-releases recently. They've been packaging them as "Deluxe Editions" and adding some extra songs, but they're basically cash grabs to get people re-interested in music they already have.
Indie artists are in a tough spot. They rely heavily on tour money and live merch sales, and both of those revenue streams are on pause.
Edit: And to your mixing comment, I think most of their recent projects are mixed well. I know Conway's new engineer and he's real talented and also a good dude. He came on board about a year ago and besides Lulu he mixed all Conway's 2020 projects. Lulu was mixed by Primo's engineer Eddie Sancho; he mixed all the classic Gang Starr albums. And I don't know who did Burden of Proof but I thought it sounded polished but still hard.
In general I almost always hate these numbered sequels. I donāt remember this much in hip hop before Blueprint 2. And obviously because everyone copied Jay, it started being a thing.
Just give everything its own name unless thereās a theme or something thatās being directly continued. Late Registration and Graduation were way better names than College Dropout 2 and 3. Cats & Dogs was a better name than Weatherman 2. A unique name gives a project more of its own identity.
I wouldāve even liked if Benny called this More Plugs, or something like that. Oh well. If the musicās dope I donāt care. Yaāll get the idea.

No doubt. Stillmatic was way better than calling it Illmatic: The Sequel or some shyt
Even EPMD was cool incorporating āBusinessā into ever album title. Busta Rhymes themes about the end of he world on every album title or whatever was dope. But The Plugs I Met Vol. 2 is kinda lazy but I aināt mad! The first album is a classic so itās put up or shut up donāt drop some BS & call it a sequel! So if itās extra good he OK with me
