Wasn't Howard Dean's 50 state strategy part of the last 15 years of Dems and it also yielded lots of red state democrats who ended up voting against the ACA and still lost their seats. Everyone likes the idea of a 50 state strategy until the Manchins start showing up in places like West Virginia and Mckaskills in Missouri. It wasn't a good strategy when he tried to explain why he wanted Obama primaried and it still doesn't sound like a good strategy to continuously focus inward.
