Bernie Sanders is the greatest "what if" in modern American history post 1960s. Even if a fraction of his vision came true, most of yall wouldn't be suffering from small bank accounts and outrageous COL.

The #1 dominant reason is pro-capitalism brainwashing. They were bathed in capitalist propaganda from childhood, for many of the young ones their parents and grandparents were bathed in it too, and they instinctively revolt against anything that might disrupt corporate profits. The days of the Black Panthers, Martin Luther King Jr., and other Black socialists being the dominant black voices is gone. Now there are no dominant black voices speaking to the whole black community, so instead too many people are listening to voices that don't actually care for Black welfare.
Related to that, they all idealize ownership, and have taken in the capitalist message that everyone can be a part of the owner class, who doesn't have to work and just makes money off of other people's work. Unions are all workers, and are seen as opposing the owner class, so TLR sees them as counter to their dream even if they're not currently part of the owner class themselves.
I also think it has something to do with not wanting to be part of a collective. Just like the thread yesterday about how black people shouldn't concern themselves with the rest of the Black community. There are so many pro-division narratives here, you get the impression that most of TLR doesn't actually want to be part of anything or work together with anyone. They have a lone wolf mentality and somehow believe that's the only way forward.
No socialist is ever going to become president. If Bernie had won the primary, Trump would have won both the electoral college and the popular vote.

And there's an argument to be made that the only reason Bernie was getting the buzz he was getting was because Hillary was such a bad candidate. If Bernie entered the primaries in 2008 against Obama, he never would have polled high cause Barry O would have beat him like a bad habit.
In general election polls, Bernie polled better than both Clinton and Biden. You could say polls don't reflect turnout....the problem being, Bernie is MORE likely to increase turnout (via youth, liberal, and independent voters that wouldn't vote otherwise) than his opponents were. Plus enthusiasm was way higher for him and his campaigning energy was much higher than both Clinton and Biden, who famously were basically hiding in a basement until the election, and often as not went to the wrong states when they did go.

Why Sanders Does Better With Independents

He even does better with right-wingers the more they get to know him, once he becomes anything more than a slur they heard:

On top of that, when it comes to the states that really matter, Bernie did best in those exact white working-class depressed spots (wisconsin, michigan, pennsylvania) that decided the election. And he was doing way better than Biden among latinos in 2020 too.
So you have to imagine that there were all these mainstream democrats who kept telling people they wanted to vote for Bernie, over and over, full well knowing that he's a socialist.....but who were going to turn around and vote for Trump on election day because they suddenly remembered something about why they prefer Trump to socialism that they didn't think about once from October to October.
You sound like the kind of person who would have said there is no way America would ever elect an African immigrant's son with a Muslim name.....one that sounds like "Osama" AND has "Hussain" too....and openly liberal too. Until it happened.
Bernie was smoking them in the early caucuses until a concerted effort was put forth to squash him when loads of other folks withdrew to let Biden get a leg upNo socialist is ever going to become president. If Bernie had won the primary, Trump would have won both the electoral college and the popular vote.
I don't mind socialism but it's been a red button boogeyman to Americans for decades. Bernie would be easy to beat in a general election.

Bernie wouldn't beat Joe Biden, Barack Obama, or John Kerry (the last 3 democratic nominees not named Hillary Clinton).

A socialist has already been president, and one will be again with the way the elites are squeezing everyone else out. Might take another 20 years though. No socialist is ever going to become president. If Bernie had won the primary, Trump would have won both the electoral college and the popular vote.
