A socialist has already been president, and one will be again with the way the elites are squeezing everyone else out. Might take another 20 years though.

You reminded me of another crazy "What if?" that not many people know about.

FDR's second VP, Henry Wallace, was a super progressive politician hated by conservative Dems. They forced him out of the White House just a few months before FDR died (in a foreboding of things to come, Wallace got more votes than Truman on the first ballot but conservative Democrats got all the other candidates to drop out and flip to Truman). Wallace ended up leaving the Democrats and forming his own party that called for universal health care and the nationalization of large banks, railroads, and power utilities. If FDR had just died a few months earlier, or Wallace had somehow hung onto the VP spot for one more cycle, he might have doubled down on FDR's changes and America would have looked different.

Wallace had also been a student of George Washington Carver as a child (GWC actually lived in his home for a short period) and was extremely progressive on racial issues. like calling for desegregation and full racial equality already in the 1940s. He refused to speak before segregated audiences whenever he campaigned in the South, and always traveled together with his Black staff which caused him to be pelted with eggs and rotten tomatoes at times. Was frequently accused of being a Communist and investigated by the FBI, of course.

This is extremely interesting, I will read more on this when I have the time.

What angle you working from where "Bernie Sanders has preferential solidarity with the Jews" is a claim you actually wanted to enter this discussion with? :laff:

Now the pro-Israel lobby is pushing back. fukk him.

Bernie fukking hates AIPAC and the feeling is mutual. And who is giving them billions of our tax dollars? This take is just bizarre.

It looks like your take was built on literally nothing other than assuming that everyone else is as racist as you are.

Unfortunately Bernie got railroaded by the Dems. They showed their true colors during that election period. It was so bad that i started cheering for Trump out of pure entertainment.

The socialist message doesn't do well given the inflation we are currently experiencing. It's easy too easy for the republicans to attack and convince the masses. Anyone with half a brain knows that all of Bernies policy will lead to some type of further inflation.

The Dems next face should be someone with an economic background who can juggle between a recession and hyperinflation.

At the time, Hillary made it easy for a LOT of Americans to cheer for the NY Real Estate man who had a successful reality TV show. She made him seem more relatable.

That's a link for money THEY give to politicians, not money politicians give them. And there's zero contributions to Bernie Sanders listed.

So again, wtf were you talking about? :dahell:

I watched the first 3.5 minutes. First was a clip of Bernie Sanders giving stats on Black-White disparities and saying we need massive structural change, the elimination of all institutional racism, and heavy investment into distressed communities, until all racial disparities are ended. Then the host made a TLR-level argument where he talked about Charlie Brown and made teacher mumble noises. Was it going to get better at some point?

I agree that's the answer that half a brain gives.

"Inflation" has been the boogeyman against helping the poor for 40+ years. Funny that no one brings up inflation when it comes to the trillion-dollar defense budget. Funny that no one brings up inflation when it comes to trillions in tax cuts. Funny that no one brings up inflation when corporations are subsidized. It's only helping the poor that gets tossed aside, for some reason.

If you really think helping the poor is what drives inflation, then tax the rich, reduce defense spending, and reduce corporate subsidies. Problem solved!

The Dems next face should be someone with an economic background who can juggle between a recession and hyperinflation.

When has this ever worked?

Different people with economic backgrounds have wildly disparate theories on what needs to be done, and electing presidents who supposedly "understand the economy" hasn't historically worked any better than anyone else.
