I'm in favor of reparations, but it's literally impossible right now. Over 70% of the American public opposes it. Even if a 100% pro-reparations president came to power, it would have to get approved by the House and the vast majority are against it. Even if the House approved it, the right-wing courts would block it just like they blocked the Black farmer grants.

You're angry that Sanders won't virtue-signal a position that would cost him every election, even though you full well know he couldn't ever actually act on the position. The #1 dominant reason is pro-capitalism brainwashing. They were bathed in capitalist propaganda from childhood, for many of the young ones their parents and grandparents were bathed in it too, and they instinctively revolt against anything that might disrupt corporate profits. The days of the Black Panthers, Martin Luther King Jr., and other Black socialists being the dominant black voices is gone. Now there are no dominant black voices speaking to the whole black community, so instead too many people are listening to voices that don't actually care for Black welfare.

Related to that, they all idealize ownership, and have taken in the capitalist message that everyone can be a part of the owner class, who doesn't have to work and just makes money off of other people's work. Unions are all workers, and are seen as opposing the owner class, so TLR sees them as counter to their dream even if they're not currently part of the owner class themselves.

I also think it has something to do with not wanting to be part of a collective. Just like the thread yesterday about how black people shouldn't concern themselves with the rest of the Black community. There are so many pro-division narratives here, you get the impression that most of TLR doesn't actually want to be part of anything or work together with anyone. They have a lone wolf mentality and somehow believe that's the only way forward.

That's the basic hustle that people have bought and they have been running with that since the 60s. That's more than enough sample size to see that it hasn't worked and the rich have gotten richer and that gap has only widened
