Besides gaming, are there any advantages to owning a PC over a high end Macbook Pro?

Money isn't a factor. Which would you choose as a personal computing device and why?

I'm talking build it yourself desktop or readymade laptop or whatever form of Windows 10

Serious question, I'm interested in getting a new computer

I think the MacBook Pro is kind of just an all around good laptop. Expensive yes but the combination of size, form factor, and battery life make it popular with people. OS X imo is still superior to win 10, but the thing is you can put windows on a MacBook Pro via bootcamp and/or parallels. So you can still have both with ease vs trying to do a hackintosh.

You can obviously find more powerful pc laptops but they come at the expense of size and battery life typically.

Also if you're a video editor Final Cut Pro is pretty amazing to work in. Super efficient.

And still Apple support is better overall than other oems.

MacBooks are not too dogs anymore. I have a 2015 pro and its aaaaight. When I bought one previous they were ahead of the curve tech wise. Not anymore. Can't upgrade after purchase either
One thing I love about these MBPs is that they feel like they'll last forever, I still got my old Macbooks, the plastic ones from 2009, and the work the same as back then, and my 2014 retina is light years more advanced. Seeing as cpu speeds have hit a wall, it should be a looong time before I need to get a new laptop, but I could sell it for $1700 and just build a dope gaming desktop with that Titan X Pascal :ld:

what will you be doing with your new computer?
Basic computing, streaming shyt, word processing, torrenting, and gaming (if I go with the build a PC route, or the other option is to keep the MBP 2014 and stay gaming on the PS4 Pro)

You cop that new 2016 model, breh? Or you gonna wait a couple more years?
I have a 2015 mbp, probably gonna hang onto it for a while. I'd like the new model but it'd be an inconvenience to not have an HDMI port or mini display ports as I use Apple display monitors.

For me, no.

- I hate OSX
- I like to be able to upgrade/replace parts easily
- I use a lot of Windows only software (Blender 3D, some music shyt)

And even if money isn't a factor, it's still a factor. What MacBook is fukking with something like this for similar money? :ld:

IMO it's not a decision that can be rationalized. It's like getting a Lexus over a Toyota, which is fine, but not rational.

well macbook pros are good laptops overall, honestly if you can wait a lil they're supposedly gonna release an updated mbp late this year. But mbp are basically good overall laptops if you care about a balance of size, battery life, and again OS. And again you can throw windows on there if you wanted to. But based on your response, you're prollly gucci with the 2014 rmbp and going all in on gaming.

There are def some high quality PC laptops out there as well breh, just have to pay a little more. I know what you mean when you say you like how they feel like they will last forever.... only buy Dells and the guts outlast the bodies easily

But I would look into some high end PC stuff first. I know there are some really nice ultrabooks for example

You ever build a desktop? I'd go that route if I was going with Windows, it's glorious how powerful a desktop you can put together for $1500 odd dollars :banderas:
