Listening to some of these other songs and now comparing Canibus to back then can anyone tell me what the hell happened to him. In retrospect im not suprised that he didnt blow up with his battle style but he should have always been hot as far as features are concerned. In 98 Canibus was the one who everyone though had next even before Jigga and X. But after finally viewing that shyt when he pulled out the notepad i knew Canibus was finished. I actually thought that that shyt was supposed to be a parody or something until i found out it was real.

That nicca is ahead of his time with that poet laureate infinity concept...If Hov, Em, Nas or any other artist came up with it they would be lauded as a genius.
Essentially this nicca made multiple layered songs structured in such as way that you can mix and chop the songs and they still rhyme but provide you with infinite mixing capability. That RTJ:Infinity album takes that concept and spans it for 8 hours...basically there will always be new bis material coming out, lol.
The key takeaway is that bis never spit those lyrics, they were all mixed by someone.

That's my Canibus
Might actually buy this Canibus / Bronze Nazareth album ..... he's in my Top 5; Should be in everybody's Top 25 lyrically, but Treated like Top 1,000
Supporting this guy, he's brought over 15 years of joy to me as a hip hop fan, that appreciates that deeper content. Breath of fresh of air among all the overplayed formulaic content.

It's a shame his career ended up the way it did.
His guest appearances in the late 90's were GOAT. One of the most exciting and talented dudes in rap.
Then his albums were ass...especially that C True Hollywood Stories bullshyt.
Then he made that amazing Poet Laureate 2 track, his best song ever. Looked like he was coming back.
Then he made a dozen ehhhhh albums with bargain basement beats and his voice turned all grumbly and weird.
Then he whipped out a notepad and lost a rap battle to wack ass "Dizaster."
I want to root for the dude but he makes it hard.
At least we got some dope shyt here and there.
