Omg lol everybody I know is doing this and Nursing.
of not mentioned..computer science
I was thinking about minoring in this along with applied math.
Brehette, trust me you can talk your way into anything. The main thing employers want to see is if you have experience in using R, Tableu, SAS etc.....
Which I'm sure your school has some type of class or workshop on. To be safe you should still get one, but there's plenty of jobs where you can start with a bachelors.
I know it only took @Jesus a year to get his....
Not to mention there's no such thing a broke math major. You know how many premed students and entry level alegbra college students you can hustle for tutoring, anywhere from $15-50 an hour.
Math, people on wall street want math majors....
If you can do applied math and like doing it, then do it. That's what I regret not doing in undergrad. I'm applying for a masters program in stats right now.
Youd be just fine with that
As u may or may not know IT comes down to certifications and portfolio but taking some classes as a minor would help if u decide to go that route.
Employers dont care about minors though fyi
Oh ok I didnt know that. Makes no sense taking on a minor when it wont count.
Ill probably just do the certs then.

TBH a degree in computer science is pretty much a minor in math. I'd just advise her to take some extra upper division stats classes as electives, because that's a valuable skillset that the job market demands...Youd be just fine with that

Bio....Thanks!
Im going to see if they have a course in this at my cc. Those are like certificates that proves you can code right?
Wow master in stats that seems hard as hell man lol. What did you major in if you don't mind?
We mostly use R in government b/c it's free and more accessible vs. SAS which is expensive...I'm in the process of learning it now.
Most of the people in my dept are math majors....M.S. is encouraged but not mandatory...we literally are in demand of analytical minded people, but regularly turning down application b/c people don't have those Calc and Stat classes. Right now, the DoD is paying for my M.S. in Operations Research...pretty much 80% a stats degree. After I finish...I'll throw my resume around and might fukk with the private sector, but right now I'm cool with my 40hrs. a week making 75k and getting dedicated time at work to study.
@TeenTitansGo What do you ENJOY and what are you good at? Have you taken atleast Calc I?![]()
Bio....
I did pretty good in my previous stats classes so I should be fine.
The lower level stuff was a complete breeze. I never "studied" and completely aced it. The Upper division (biostats) was a bit more challenging but still doable without putting in too much strenuous work. Everyone learns and processes information differently though.Im thinking about taking Statistics next semester. Was it hard?
I like math and with a lot of studying I seem to do good in it. No lol I've only taken College algebra, Im a freshman. I wish I had taken it in highschool but I didn't take it too serious.
Btw Im in community college right now. I can't really seem myself doing engineering due to the physics, I hate chemistry so I know physics will be hard.
What type of math did you need for your Math degree?
Calc I-III, Diff. Eq., Linear, Advanced Calc. Stats, Topology
Wow DoD I heard they hire more black stem majors due to them needing to pass clearance is that true?
U.S. is the largest employer of AA as a whole...especially in the D.C. area. Hit me up when you trying to get a internship I sit next to a recruiter and know a buddy who recruits in another state as well. What state are you in?
