Part of the reason he was Kingsguard so early was so Jamie couldn't inherit Casterly Rock....The Mad King didn't trust Tywin as he was getting all the praise for running the kingdom, Jamie being knighted was a slight to Tywin.Ned couldn't best him either.Before the match was interrupted, it looked like it could have gone either way.
