I've been using Ebay for over a decade but mainly for Electronics, looking to clean out my wardrobe and things I don't donate to charity I want to sell.

Which platform have you all had the best luck? Ebay? Griailed?

I got a ton of shyt so probably will dedicate a day to take pics and list everything so I am just gathering info now.

pros and cons with one vs the other? I mean technically I guess I could list the same items on both but I`m just being lazy lol. Grilled I`m most familiar with, these would be Luxury items + sneakerhead stuff
Grailed
pros: archival/hype based. Can list higher prices and they’d sell faster or you’d at least get respectable offers. Supreme, J’s celebrity collaborations, Rick Owens.. etc

cons: scam messages are more frequent on grailed, which are annoying. Grailed has a 9% commission fee plus payment fee depending where you’re at.

depop
pros: leans more y2k and thrift based, so if your closet is old asf you can eat better on there. Tommy, Guess, Ralph Lauren, 90s attite.. etc.

cons: difficult to sell higher price items as app is treated like a virtual thrift shop. More popular with women than men from my experience. 10% flat fee (includes shipping) and a payment fee depend on your location.

For Grailed is it like spam bots or scammers who try to get you off the platform to "buy directly"?

spam bots. Will send you a phishing message similar to what the real sold message looks like.

Much less on depop since most of the items are thrifty/2nd hand

ah gotcha, I assume there is no reason to even click links in messages anyways? Offers or whatever wouldn't come as Direct messages? For example DMs are a totally different thing than bids/offers on Ebay so it would be hard to be confused if you are basic tech savvy

All small talk, transaction confirmations, and shipping details are through the apps’ DMs. It’s divided by Buy and Sell. This is my confirmed sale message and offer message from a few weeks ago:

Opposed to Depop which has buying offers, selling offers, and order details in their own tabs

clicking on that link takes me to the Order Details. For the tech illiterate, it’s easy to click on a phishing link thinking it was real.

Still, it’ll say Grailed Bot and you will also get an e-mail confirming it. It’s just very frequent depending on the item. The app does a good job banning those accts but still.
