its darn near the same song.

its the slightly cleaned-up version with the video that came out later and went mainstream without the actual song going mainstream. and the rest is history.

I didn't even know who master p was in 1995, to keep it a buck. I prolly saw that "mobbing thru the hood" video on rap city once or twice tho.

:comeon:

YES YOU ARE

you gave out participation trophies to gangstarr, jeru da damaja, O.C., common sense
and played favorites with Nas & wutang.

I'm not talking about the ice cube situation.

92 was the one where I took your bullet. SMH. never again tho.

the same way youre ignoring the basis of these arguments from the three "complainers". nobody is mad just because a certain song didn't make the cut. the problem is when songs that are considered shoe-ins get snubbed in favor of songs that have no place on the list. that's what this is really about. but yall want to dance around that.

and lets be reality. these debates are whats fueling these threads. otherwise, these joints would max out at 2-pages.

I'm not ignoring the basis of the argument. I acknowledge them and said you and Smoke are not necessarily wrong but it's all opinion based, these aren't facts. So we can argue til the sun comes up about songs we felt were omitted. Not gonna change anything. Like I said, the songs I personally like most aren't even making the list in a lot of these years. Your arguments are you felt other songs should be on there over others because you felt they were either bigger or better. Bigs only complaint is about popularity, all he cares about it sales, so I pretty much invalid his arguments. And SmokeRobinson's complaints are about better too.

I don't care about how many pages the threads do, I care about quality of discussion. And it's getting diluted.

My personal favorite single from every year
1990 - Jackin For Beats
1991 - Can't Truss It
1992 - TROY
1993 - Outta Here (Come Clean is arguable tho, love that single)
1994 - The World Is Yours or Mass Appeal
1995 - Shook Ones Part 2
1996 - Dead Presidents
1997 - TONY

Look at the polls. 90, 91, 93, 94, 96, 97 my favorite single of the year isn't even on the list. I left off my personal favorites trying to be as impartial as possible.

Love how you completely ignore me acknowledging your complaints and validating them. Cool

And who knows where the discussions would've went if they weren't derailed 10 post in. Most people were debating one of y'all three after y'all made a "I can't believe..." head ass post.

NAH I blushed actually.
ask my cat & daughter.
but you ignored what I was saying a few times, so I had to get even.

and youre ignoring what I said again. that 1990 thread been out all week and peaked at 6 posts. there is no "what-if".

I only really debated with @DANJ. I cant speak for the others.
and me & DANJ are gonna go at it no matter what the topic is, if we're in the same thread. even if we agree, its gonna go down. so I don't even count him at this point.

its the version on "ice cream man".

iirc, the video dropped at like the top of '97 or something.

that's because you cant add any of those with a str8 face, except the '90-91 joints, which don't matter because you still had cube & PE up there for different songs.

my favorite single of '95 was sam sneed "u better recognize", but you don't see me in here saying that its a snub.

EDIT: bone thug "foe tha luv of $" would be my favorite for '95, if you consider it a '95 single. but you already got bone up there for a different song, so its null & void.

I don’t remember that at all. I remember the mr ice cream man video though.

I'm not sure if I remember seeing the video on actual television back then neither. I remember it getting play afterwards like when BET Hit List had that no limit episode a year later.
that and some of the video was on the "bout it" movie tape.

you cant even get the full video on youtube. its two separate videos sliced in half that you have to play back-to-back. LOL. its weird.

"heaven for a gangsta" got more exposure than ice cream man.

No he did not have a stretch of hits :mjlol:

He had exactly two. Everything else was just singles

nah he had two ridiculously big hits.

and per usual, when you have songs on that level, people tend to forget that you had other hits.

plus we on the east. I don't remember any of his stuff getting play on urban radio in philly, aside from fantastic voyage.
I don't even remember hearing gangstas paradise on the dial.

Gangstas Paradise was all over the place and got played on the radio 80 times a day. He had other singles and the videos came on the Box a lot. But they weren’t hits. Fantastic Voyage was a hit but nowhere near GP. Coolio is damn near a one hit wonder fr fr

I forgot youre DMV. yall radio was better with the national hits.

fantastic voyage was huge breh. it wasn't GP huge, but what is?
you cant name 3 bigger rap hits from summer '94.

those other songs weren't just BOX hits. they were MTV hits. and he was like the urban celebrity face of nickelodeon.
you act like he was K7 or somebody.
