I really liked 2Pacalypse Now. I think it's 2Pac's best work, and marks his peak as a person and a man. It's when he stood for something and genuinely wanted to change the world. That idealistic and revolutionary spark seemed to leave him the older he got and the better he became at rapping.

Quik is the Name was fantastic too.

Never really felt Death Certificate as an overall project, it's got some mad high points that I liked - My Summer Vacation, Givin' Up the Nappy Dug Out, Color Blind - but as an overall album I never enjoyed listening to Death Certificate like I do Quik is the Name, and nor does it make me feel angry and like I have to tear this motherfukker up like 2Pacalypse Now

Interesting perspective. I think DC is way better than 2Pacalypse tbh.

I would have voted for Phife. :mjcry:

But in all seriousness, I knew it was a wrap for Cube when he dominated the 1990 poll. So much competition that year and he ran away with it. Compared to that, 1991 was a walk in the park.

I was expecting 1990 and 1991

1992 was the shock for me

I thought if anyone from the West was taking it maybe Dre just off the Chronic strength, but his rap credentials would always come to his disadvantage versus someone like Cube

I thought Redman would win and he was my pick, but I ain't complaining

After listening to Whut? Thee Album, I'm actually not surprised Redman lost. I liked the album and there were a lot of good songs, but for me, it was lacking something to make it AOTY. Dre could have been a lock, but I guess Ice Cube was the only one with the talent and the quality material to win the poll.

Album of the year breh. Top 10 album of all-time and Redman won source lyricist of the year as well.

Couldn't disagree more. Respect your opinion tho.

It's fine, man. I never thought the album was wack because it's not. It was a really enjoyable album. But it was only that first time I listened to it so when I go through the 1992 albums, I'll check it out again.
