Late Registration was a little bit of a disappoint of sorts for me initially... but I was still a Kanye fan at this time.
I just can't go with Sean Price for Monkey Barz simply because of the impact of both BE and Late Registration... but Sean Price comes in third for me.
I see y'all got Phonte up there but Big Pooh dropped Sleepers in 05. LB dropped Chiltin Circuit 2.5 and Minstrel Show that year. Buck and 9th Wonder also dropped Chemistry.
DANGER DOOM also dropped in '05 (which I love).

My graduation year...the memories....(full disclosure: jersey/philly area)
There were 2 cds that year, that people were checking for:
-Documentary (Just flat out great. G-Unit was a music making machine)
-Late Registration (classic; shoulda (and did) went triple)
1 CD that did not come out of nowhere, but was not expected to be THAT good:
-Carter 2
The other 2 CDs that will get some mention but get disqualified when talking about the MVP of a year for circumstances in their control:
-The B.Coming (sigel was locked when this was released, most of the songs were out for a year by then, 03 and 04 were MUCH MUCH better years for him)
-I'm a hustla (Cassidy caught the murder charge...then the accident...and couldnt promote or do anything for a CD 10x better than his debut)
The MVP is Kanye (2 for 2 classics, with a #1 album and #1 single to sprinkle on top).....next would be Wayne (THIS was the year he put it all together).......3rd is Cassidy (top 5 CD in my opinion of the year, but not worthy of MVP status on any measurement)
