Gotta change my vote to Kendrick tbh...it was his year and GKMC, whilst not my favourite album, was undoubtedly great

I hope Sean Price does get some more votes though

K-Rino dropped two classics that year!!!

Deeper Elevation was excellent, that definitely classic to me, that was probably my favourite album that year. 80 Minute Eternity had some great songs too, would have to revaluate that 1, has a bunch of joints I play regularly though.

yeah I mean prefer his music as part of the duo and he was the worse of the two imo but both were dope

I can't argue that he wasn't better as he went solo...he definitely improved
From a technical standpoint, you could argue he was better in 96. But that style he developed was just crazy and he found a way to talk about shyt in his life that wasn't corny.

Everybody thought Rock was gonna be the one. Even had Redman sampling him for the hook that year "Is he for real he can't be"

Muddy Waters had a lot of similar sounding samples to other tracks

I know Illadelph came out that year too and the beat on Section is remarkably similar to Iz He 4 Real

Rock Da Spot has some short sample of Biggie's Unbelievable

I think Superman Luva III has a slowed down sample of Nas' One Love

This was Kendrick first and Nas second for that year far and above anyone else

Then after that you got Killer Mike, Big KRIT, Lupe Fiasco (F&L II wasnt too bad to me), Kanye (Cruel Summer), Schoolboy Q, Ab-Soul, Joey Badass (I know it was a mixtape but 1999 was just great), 2 Chainz (Arvydas Sabonis rookie award), Nicki, Homeboy Sandman, Meek Mill and Rick Ross.
