I don't get how people can say artists who have charted in other countries even are local or irrelevant, even though they weren't like number 1's that means their reach has not only gone beyond their region but into whole other countries.
i can dig the 70% theory. Half the albums you named proved my point tho. How all those albums (from the east and west) get the cross over pass, but an album with comparable sells, singles, and impact out the south is regional
you really think nikkas riding around the south bumpin 36 Chambers and Ready to Die like that?
whatever tho
and theres are reason Juve went 4x plat which is more than what WU and Big did on those albums or Nas has done on any album, so what you saying? You talkin bout they clowned him in the east...meanwhile Jigga, Foxy, Nore,Ruff Ryders, DJ Clue, Puff, 50 grabbing him for features and tours..this what im talking bout. if it aint from up top, nikkas simply cant give it credit. It is what it is.Depends on who you are and ur taste
It aint regional tho
You think 400 degrees got as much cross appeal as a album like grodt???
And u said who bumping r2d and 36 chambers
There's a reason both those albums went multi platinum
By the time Juve's album came out in 98, regionalism was more so dead in hip hop.and theres are reason Juve went 4x plat which is more than what WU and Big did on those albums or Nas has done on any album, so what you saying? Nas had a better career. But none of his albums matched 400 degreezIm from st louis
And no region or city is in control
Internet killed all that
And last i checked nas sold more then juvi
As far as the west coast goes, Snoop and Dre, Ice Cube, Pac, and Pharcyde got play everywhere. And some had one or two hit singles that got play everywhere like Luniz with I Got 5 On It, Ahmad with Back in the Days and Warren G with Regulators. There are very few artist/songs/albums that were truly nationwide during that "regional" period from like 92-98. By truly nationwide I mean that they got played on daytime "urban" radio everywhere.
The OP seems to get a weird kick out of attention seeking and trolling,
such an odd comparison
Ahmad huh?As far as the west coast goes, Snoop and Dre, Ice Cube, Pac, and Pharcyde got play everywhere. And some had one or two hit singles that got play everywhere like Luniz with I Got 5 On It, Ahmad with Back in the Days and Warren G with Regulators.
E-40, fukk no. I never heard an E-40 song on the radio from 92-98.
You not talking about me are you? I've only got 65 posts in this threadYeah. Most of @Mephistopheles' threads are like this. And people take the bait every time.
Every time.
It's a shame, really.
It's easy if you think about it...same threadstarter made a thread last week about how
he has a disdain for Bay rap that stretches over a long period. It was a success (for lack of a better word).
He also in the past has expressed that he doesn't particularly like Missy much either -
but he's from VA, so I guess he has more of a tolerance of her. So this is another
"let me troll the Bay region" thread. And it worked again. They take the bait every time.
Every time.
I don't recall it.Ahmad huh?
Didn't expect that.
Did the 5 on it remix get play out your way?
Disdain? Nah. Something has to be impactful for it to draw disdain.Yeah. Most of @Mephistopheles' threads are like this. And people take the bait every time.
