Missy has had sustained success over several years and several projects. She's not a flash in the pan and she's highly respected. Hammer went multi-platinum twice then quickly became considered an embarrassment to the genre and culture. That's a silly comparison.

Hammer was an embarrassment to the genre and culture almost immediately. It wasn't like he had Hip hop cred during Hammer Don't Hurt them and Too Legit.
Missy was never really considered hip hop like that. For a number of reasons. So why are you even comparing her to a rapper in the first place?

Missy is a talented and respected artist with sustained longevity. Hammer wasn't (outside of dancing). That's why it's dumb to try and equate their commercial success. I don't know how to say it any clearer.
And on what fukking planet is Missy not hip-hop and not a rapper?

Not core hip hop credibility though. She definitely has her artistic bonafides for her writing and for her R&B material. She stretched hip hop into a pop direction as well.
