40 by a mile. Put some respek on Earl name
2 classics?![]()
Look at their careers. Lock thread punch OP in the jaw.
so youre saying silkk had the better career??
if so, i agree.
Nah. When you factor in the slang, his music, and the fact that this dude still has hits, E-40's career >>>>>. I've listened to Silkk's music more because Charge It 2 Da Game is a favorite of mine. Still, 40 came out in '93. He released his biggest album in '95, which went platinum. He dropped two other albums in the 90's that went gold. He then dropped My Ghetto Report Card in 2006, which in turn introduced hyphy and ghost riding the whip to the mainstream. The same year, he appeared on Lil Jon's "Snap Your Fingers" and he went gold again with My Ghetto Report Card. Nearly 10 years after this, he assists Big Sean in what is probably Sean's biggest song ("IDFWU"), then he had his own "Function", which went Gold. There's also "R.I.P." remix of the Jeezy song. We're looking at a rapper who impacted the 90's, '00's, and the '10's, which is three decades of music.
Silkk has two platinum albums from '98 and '99. Three if you count TRU 2 Da Game, which was 2X platinum. Beyond '99, Silkk really has nothing to really compete with 40.
you guys still think that rappers lingering around equates to having some sort of legendary run.
silkk had a 6 year run and was a huge top-tier star thru most of it, and got out when he couldve easily still put out more records. and hes still rich in 2021. and you really dont want to talk impact. silkk basically rode shotgun on the label that changed the landscape of the entire industry.
e-40 is a super-regional rapper who is opening up at clubs in his mid-50s for a rapper named lil baby. i remember he was begging dr dre to acknowledge him a couple years ago. most of his slang that yall dwell on is regional as well. no groundbreaking hits or impact. never even went on a national tour. his biggest looks are features where he really wasnt needed.
and thats no knock on e-40. yall just have a lack of perspective.
thats like saying fat joe had a better career than jarule. or busta rhymes had a better career than DMX.
He’s trolling, breeeuuuhs. That’s what he does. Don’t pay him no mind.E-40 wasn't lingering. He had hits, was still impacting by introducing movements to Hip Hop.
And what's funny is mentioning that E-40 is in his mid-50's opening up for the hottest act in Hip Hop, but he's supposedly "super regional".
Silkk's run wasn't six years. Silkk's run started in 1997 and ended by 2000. And if we're keeping it all the way real, E-40 was also instrumental in No Limit's success. E-40 and his uncle helped show P the game. No Limit started in the Bay. P soaked up game from 40 and 40's uncle to where he was able to sell enough units out of the trunk to get Priority's attention.
E-40 wasn't some super-regional rapper. Dude is easily national. His slang isn't regional either. Jay Z and other rappers have full songs using his slang. "Tell Me When To Go" was ground breaking. What national tours was Silkk headlining? Yes, No Limit had a tour in 1999, but Silkk wasn't the headliner.
Breh, Ja Rule and DMX had multiple successful multi-platinum albums at their peaks. You can't say the same for Silkk.
