Since you said better and not bigger, I'm going with the Ruff Ryders since they never dropped a dud at their peak.

This is a great thread topic and one i’m glad I saw. This is just me comparing hype and also the reception (and sales) of their albums too. Not taking talent too much into the equation

50 vs X = I wanna say X but 50 was stupid popular too. Won’t argue either way

Eve vs Lloyd Banks = i’ll say Eve but Banks mixtape fam is LEGENDARY during that time so thats comparing Eve commercially vs Banks mixtape run

Beg for Mercy vs We R The Streets = I PREFER We R The Streets but won’t argue

Drag-On vs Tony Yayo = Yayo.

Buck Straight Outta Cashville vs Kiss Kiss the Game Goodbye……could be a push

Game 1st album vs Styles first solo album….thats a push tooooooo

I’ll say Ruff Ryders cause ROD volume 1 and 2 slaaaaaaaaaaappppppped

20 years ago, I would've said it was close.

But I gotta go with G-Unit.

Away from X's first three albums, a lot of the RR sh*t became corny and dated mad mad quick. He was carrying that whole movement. Even the early Whoo Kid G-Unit mixtapes STILL bang. And this was before the fame and success. I think collectively, those G-Unit projects have had a much longer stay in the rotation.

X and Ruff Ryders was more of a movement. You had X, the first two RR compilations, Eve's first album. Drag-On is Yayo status with Yayo getting the edge. "So Seductive" was bigger than anything Drag had. "Down Bottom" was on the first RR compilation. RR also had "We Are The Streets". I haven't even counted the X albums, which his three album run was IDAHIH, FOMF, and And Then There Was X. RR had bigger competition. X dropped his third album during the 4th quarter of 1999 with Dre and Jay and that album was still a monster. No, RR>>>>>> G-Unit.

G-Unit…

I remember everyone and their mama bumping those tapes.

50 was bringing back Hip Hop to 1996 Pac levels with the beef.

As a kid, I wanted to be a fearless dude like him.

I love Ruff Ryders but they kinda faded away too quick.

DMX falling off didn’t help either.

After Ryde Or Die 2,it was the beginning of the end.

3 came out on the wrong day.

Dropped on the same day as Stillmatic.

They should have released it in Nov 2001
