Let's be real.

Even though LL is a GOAT contender, he rarely gets brought up in the GOAT conversations like Nas.

Even Rakim gets brought up more than him.

Nas not only outlasted LL in relevance but his catalog is held in a much higher regard and he also outsold LL too.

LL may have more recognizable hits but Nas is just on a higher level than him. Let's be honest. LL's last album which was good btw doesn't even get talked about much these days whereas Nas's KD series and the project with Premo are still talked about a lot.
No he didn’t lol

LL last album did 17k
Nas did 21k

LL been rapping since 1985

All respect to Nas but LL had multiple hit records, movies, tv shows, ect. He has the greatest career of all hip hop artists (well him and snoop) and up there with all musical acts. The LL disrespect is crazy :wtf:

This is silly because without ll.

Nobody in the new school way of thought even exists.

Now as an entrepreneur publicallly.
nas has the duke on ll.
Later in career accolades nas in timeline appears to have a better csreer thsn ll. Yet permeation wise. ll has higher visibility and reach as a draw.

Music quality Nas and it's not even close.
LL did branch off and do movies and TV so he's got it there.

I don't care about sales much so don't know about that shyt. Both have had great careers and are well respected still

Nas has sold more records, was in a classic hip hop movie, has more classic albums, and seen as one of, if not the goat.

LL is definitely in the Top 10 overally hip hop careers tho.

When I’m talking pop cultural heights… LL Cool J is more ubiquitous to non-Rap/casual music and tv fans than Nas…

There are middle aged people who’ve seen Deep Blue Sea and Any Given Sunday…who know “I’m Bad”, “I Need Love”, or “Mama Said Knock You Out” when they hear it…that don’t know who Nas is.

That's because when ll break through, only ny market mattered and he didn't have much competition in the mainstream as a star rapper. People never saw nothing like it before. When Nas blew up there were superstars and great rappers everywhere

When y'all have kids and take responsibility for their environment and their development.
I think is when people will learn to appreciate ll.
As ll is the only culturally dope legacy new and ol school way of thought dope rapper. With a discography that can satiate a listener. In the company of children without making and having to address content concerns.

NO OTHER EMCEE IN RAP INDUSTRIAL HISTORY HAS THAT, PERIOD.

LL is the Dr J of hip hop. Its like Dr J saying yea i know yall love MJ but im the nikka that he studied to become Air Jordan. Im the nikka that boosted the nba popularity and set the stage for magic and bird. Now imagine Dr J still staying a star dropping 18ppg, playoff runs, etc all the way through 1998. He's adapting to the styles of the game over the years. Thats LL to me.

Nas outselling LL even with all of LL’s hit singles is proof that hit songs aren’t as important in the long run as making quality ALBUMS. Body’s of work that people hold in high regard and will continually go back to.

Nas unquestionably has one of, if not THE most respected discographies in the genre.

Its Nas. Its always been Nas. Its always going to BE Nas.

Accept it.

Don't sleep on LL and what he's done with Rock the Bells. And I'm not talking about the song.
