True in a team sense I feel where you are coming from I'm just saying lebron has never been asked to protect the paint in his career but he can do more as in guard guards I agree with your paint defense that presences beats any guard defense but lebron has never been called to protect the paint so we wouldn't know but I do know he can guard 1-4 and play great help side and off the ball defense

And I wouldn't say LBJ is a better defender than Hakeem. Hakeem was a super versatile defensive big for his day. And even if LBJ is more versatile defensively overall, Hakeem was better at rim protection and anchoring his defense Better than LBJ was in terms of versatility. All of LBJ's title teams have had an all-defensive player playing alongside of him. He's never been asked to be the sole defensive stalwart on his team. Whether it was playing with Battier/Wade/Bosh.

Buuuuut, on the flip side his defensive versatility made those lineups work for those heat teams.
