Love Dead Presidents II, that's up there, but gotta go with The World Is Yours. It's one of my all time favorite tracks in the history of life :manny:

Way more rappers rapped over Dead Prez. This is not a argument to help your case
Did you see that argument in my post or did you come to that conclusion yourself :jbhmm:

You could also post tracks where artist remade dead presidents and didn't just freestyle over the beat like they did with the world is yours.

The World Is Yours.

But what is this dumb shyt claiming that it's "rewriting history" just to compare two incredible songs?

People put so much intent and words in people's mouths in regards to discussion of Reasonable Doubt, for no real reason.

I have jay as goat. And I'll tell dp2 not fukking with world is yours. Song just too iconic, and is just the embodiment of hip-hop. If you started hip hop all over and wanted to start from scratch and needed to build a foundations starting with only 10 songs. The World is yours would be one of those songs. DP2 is a amazing song but don't have that same of essence behind it like The world is yours.

The rewriting history comes straight from Jay saying “you made it a hot line I made it a hot song”. He was literally trying to make out Dead Presidents was a bigger record. Jay fans like OP have ran with that narrative like it’s truth.

And I say this as someone who thinks DP2 was the best record on RD and is absolutely classic track. But it just ain’t as classic as TWIY.

TWIY sampled in 93 songs (including DP), covered 10 times The World Is Yours by Nas on WhoSampled
DP sampled in 25 songs, covered twice Dead Presidents by Jay-Z on WhoSampled

this clearly aint the 100% precise list, but it's as comprehensive a count as we're likely to get and that gap is highly unlikely to be closed even with a precise count

Way more rapped over dead Presidents. Point still stands
where's the receipts then? the point still stands when actual datapoints say the exact opposite? :heh:

Make a poll and be mad that no one agrees with you brehs…you’re delusional to say that song has a lasting legacy. The song made zero impact in real time, so what legacy does it have? It ain’t even a top 5 important song on RD. Why would that be the better or more important song? Because you finally listened to it in 2001 and liked it?
This is bullshyt

It’s a top 5 most important song on RD and is a heavily sampled song to this day

What you should be looking at is Garden of Peace by Sonnie Liston

Just in recent years the DP beat has been modernized and recreated by a bunch of people…
