This is bullshyt

It’s a top 5 most important song on RD and is a heavily sampled song to this day
can't knock the hustle, brooklyn's finest, cashmere thoughts, d'evils, 22 twos, can i live, coming of age, and even aint no nikka in regards to impact as this is the single that really got jay some commercial momentum > DP. DP aint a wack song by any means but he has songs more important to displaying his skill & kicking off his legacy on there than DP.

Nah, Dead Presidents was what first got Jay-Z on the radio. Aint' No nikka gave him momemntum but DP opened the door and I'd say that along with D'Evils and Can I Live are the most frequently mentioned songs from RD. DP1 in particular still gets referenced and quoted a lot.

DP wasn't on the radio out in cali, and i'd assume it wasn't on the radio in the south either - but southern posters can check me on that. yall gotta stop this. DP was a first single lost in the shuffle of all the other music. Aint no nikka got burn on the radio, at school, the video stations (as well as the local station). Aint No was Jay's first song to make him a national name. DP was retconned in 01 along with RD during the blueprint/takeover/beef with nas phase...people (or at least outside of NY) don't love that song or reference it because it was something they loved when it dropped.

no, i don't need to look t the original sample as there's too many factors that affect use as well as variance in portions sampled. it's not a 1:1 comparison
U should look at the original sample because people are recreating the entire beat not Jay’s vocals

and there are multiple factors in how/why a sample is used. especially one used so many times. everyone who has used the dramatics sample should be credited to snoop and doggy dogg world? nah

That’s like saying the world is yours not being played outside New York lol

dead presidents went gold on the strength of ain’t no in real time. So more people heard that than the world is yours. So if the gold selling dead Presidents nobody cares about what does that say about the world is yours which took 25 years to go gold

:mjlol:
Imagine thinking it’s “delusional” to have the opinion that The World Is Yours could be better than Dead Presidents.

you literally just admitted DP sold singles because it was the b-side to aint no…DP was just there, another song in the mix, no one was impacted by that song IRT, the legacy of that song was elevated when Jay decided to campaign for it years later. That’s not debatable. People took note of what they hearing when they heard Illmatic/twiy, it left an imprint despite selling slowly
