Let's be 100% real -

1. she started out with a great team.

2. Missy Elliott and Li'l Mo have "been working in the industry for a long time now" as well,
and they write their chit...where's their faithful legions of stanettes that canonize whatever they say
and stop the world to support them?

Her dad quit his job to manage her career and her mother handled the outfits? What team?

DC4 was a homegrown Houston act. They didn't even start out that way. They were Gyrl's Time at first with six members. Yes Beyonce was the lead but anyone with eyes knew why she was the lead. She was a very hard worker and very focused on what she wanted. She had IT. So by the time DC3 was over it was obvious to everyone that Bey was going to excel being solo.

They even pushed back Beyonce's debut because Kelly was having so much success with Dilemma and they wanted Kelly to ride that wave.

Wtf does Lil Mo and Missy have to do with Beyonce and what we're talking about? Missy was on top of the world for a very good minute and very consistent. She just got sick and then people moved on. Are some of you just pulling shyt out their ass today?

The thing is, that most anybody can present an idea/theme/vibe to 50 creators/artists and then come out with something good at the end.

She's a very talented performer/singer/personality, but to call her things like "creative genius" I think you are diminishing all the people that really created the music.

I never called her a "creative genius", I don't think Beyonce is a musical genius at all. But she has musical talent and part of that is her ability to help with the creative vision of the song. At the end of the day, we really don't know how much input she has in the music but to say she sits around twiddling her thumbs is unfair to someone as talented as Beyonce.

A lot of her music is just that... but I can't fault her for the era that she came up in....... lets not forget that Janet came up in an era where it was all about the music, and was taking under the wing by one of the greatest producing duos of all time....

You say we don't know what her contribution is, then you go on to give her creative credit.

My point is the "creative vision" she ads is something anybody can do. It doesn't take creative talent to give ideas to a team of writers/producers/musicians.

Her talent is in performing and entertaining, she's one of the best ever to do that. But this push to give her so much creative credit for the music is why you get the backlash. You may have not personally called her a creative genius, but I've read those exact words in reference to this video/album plenty of times since it came out
