Having a wide vocal range doesn't make you a better singer, it's if you can sing that wide range properly. Which i believe a good portion can't.
Nah u bugging

Janet"s vocal range is nowhere near as wide as beyonce's

Janet can never sing this

Beyonce can def sing alot of janet's songs bruh

whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, and Janet Jackson didn't write their songs either and all had a great team behind them too. Why is Beyoncé the only one heavily critisized for it?
Don't you eva!!!! talk about mariah like that again. Get your facts straight bish! :pacspit: Mariah cowrites her shxt and has been since the beginning of her career. You couldn't just slap your name in the writing credits back in the day, especially in the beginning of your carrer. Get it straight! No one was ever able to make pop hits as well written and about something as her.

As for the others, whitney has an amazing voice and never claimed to write any of her songs. Idk about Janet, but beyonce always lied about writing her songs knowing that she didn't or she added one word. She used to make up whole story lies like "I was out by the ocean gazing at the waves when I wrote this song" knowing damn well it was a lie. Shxt like that. & she is a known theif and copycat. Rarely gives people credit up until recently.

. . criticized for it? No. We all know she's a typical manufactured pop product. The issue is her fans give her too much credit, resulting in a backlash

Exactly! :queen:

Everybody knows janet can't sing. She whispers. She got popular from being mj's sister, dancing and her persona through her music. Wasn't she talking about sex & stuff when others weren't or something? Ms. Jackson if you're nasty? Pleasure pricipal? Idk I'm young. lol :queen:

Mariah wrote her music she's the most artistic (especially when it comes to how she will sing the song) out of every female artist mentioned in this thread. Yeah she had a group that would assist her on writing but she's been writing her own music before she was even signed.
OK! Tell 'em!

They better not eva come for Mariah again :queen:

Even though i'm not really a fan of janet, janet can sing(she's not the best). Her vocal range is light lyric soprano while beyonce is a coloratura mezzo soprano. That's why janet always sound so light and whispery. She lacks power(doesn't determine if your good or bad singer, not everyone is a powerhouse) and has a nasal quality. Beyonce weakness are when her voice shrills while belting higher notes minus vibrato and in my opinion lack of emotion.

Singing is about the singing
Rapping is about the rapping

If you sing but don't write you still can be an amazing singer

If you rap but don't write the raps that you rap then what's your talent?

It still takes some skill to actually rap a song even if you didn't write it. That's not giving credit to non writers, but actually being able to deliver the lyrics is possibly more important than the lyrics themselves. Its the difference between a Dr. Dre and a Puff Daddy. Dr. Dre can make the most elementary lyrics sound GOAT level because of how he delivers them where Puffy can spit GOAT level lyrics and it sounds like he's reading off paper.

Regardless. Delivery is somethin that can be practiced. Being able to sing. U either got it or u dont. Also. Every genre has it's own set of rules and standards. Is what it is.
