Listened to half the album, and as someone who ain’t deep into house/dance yet can call it when one is a banger, this front half doesn’t have a standout house track outside of break my soul (and we all know why). Most the tracks feel like you can play them in a set but none are the song someone is requesting in particular if that makes sense.

And lord the forced profanity and ratchetness from her. Even my friend who is a big Bey fan ain’t feeling 40 y/o auntie thot bey…was good to see this wasn’t just a me thing

Damn, that’s kind of low, no?

That’s good. It’s dance/house album, and Bey, while still popular based of the depth of her fanbase, ain’t in her prime no more. I can see even a lot of her fans spinning this once or twice but only continuing to play the more purely r&b sounding songs vs the house stuff

By her very existence she is. Do you not understand how the music industry works?

You think all of her production is her own? You think she doesn’t have entire teams of artists working for her?

What does her having production teams have to do with "hogging spotlight"??? Also this is Beyoncé's first solo album in 6 years. Multiple new women in Pop, R&B and Rap have come and been successful so why would she need to "stop existing" again??

Facts, this shyt was so contrived and fake that is came off blander than flat Diet Pepsi

Needs to retire and stop hogging the spotlight, she can’t trying to appropriate all these identities like Drake.

This is so corny. Would you say the same about MJ in the 80s and 90s when the top tier musicians and songwriters were at his beck and call? Beyonce has the best writers and producers sending her their best stuff, sure. Hasn't stopped a host of r&b artists from releasing good music over the last few years. In fact there are more relevant young black women in the genre now than there were back when it seemed like only Beyonce and Rihanna were popping.

Some thoughts on the album:

I understand what Beyonce is trying to do here by creating a dance album. There some very good songs on here like plastic off the sofa and Virgo's groove. But outside of those few very good records the album as a whole is is just “ok” imo.

There’s very little appeal musically for us straight males. The further you get into the album you realize Bey just created another album for women and gays to twerk too. Subject matter is very bland and surface level. For someone who is labeled with an almost mythical black queen image her music has very little substance.

Kendrick’s music has so many more layers and depth to it, it’s crazy to think Kendrick has surpassed Beyoncé musically in nearly every way. I know it’s a strange comparison, but I consider Bey and Kendrick two of the top in their genre.

Solange also makes better music

But she has made it clear who this album is aimed at

Yeah I would actually. Once I heard Rod Temperton’s demo tracks I knew it was some BS going on.

if her talking about how sexy she is is gay to y’all.

I think y’all need to take a look in the mirror and rethink y’all life. Cause something obviously is going on internally

Are you wilfully dense? People are complaining that this album is an homage to her LGBTQ fanbase and I am saying that SHE made it very clear that that's what she was aiming for, it's really not that hard to understand

It's literally dedicated to her dead, gay uncle. Ppl who want R&B like vocals have songs like Plastic Off The Sofa, Virgo's Groove and Cuff It. The rest of the album is literally homage to black LGBTQ culture.
She literally states it’s a ballroom LGBT dance record.. I don’t think thecoli is exactly the demo she’s catering to on this one lol :russ:
Exactly, that's why I'm confused at dudes complaining about the tone of the album
