Both A&M and Nebraska are currently ranked in the Top 10.
Burnt Orange T-Shirts fans was never the smartest fan base.
Yet most would never know NU was currently in the top 10 unless they went and specifically checked for that. And just like A&M they are fools gold.

Texas ain't Notre Dame. They don't have the national relevancy as Notre Dame. Notre Dame has built decades on this. They have no background behind them like ND does like catholics and BYU with Mormons. Independence will never happen.
I also disagree with fellow Texas fans that OU needs Texas.

The only consensus there is at the moment is "fukk Texas!" Our relationship is about to be over or severely reduced.
This conference is going under when the GOR expires. It never should have been signed in the first place. The only reason it was signed was because Oklahoma State and KSU would have been fukked.
OU for SEC.... Travel distance is reasonable for fans and players(3-6 hr bus ride away. The furthest destination would be Ole Miss). We keep Texas recruits, keep national recruits and gain a firm foothold into SEC country.
OU can work on AAU status in the SEC... they don't need the Big 10 for that... Mizzou and Vanderbilt can sponsor them!

They didn't expand because none of the markets that wanted to join added any value to the bottom line. The Big 12 already has the Texas TV market. BYU doesn't bring enough money to the table and pulls the overall revenue per school down long term once junior membership would be set to expire.
