Hurricane Starang
SOHH ICEY
He had the GOAT potential but he didnt make enough dope songs/albums to be better than big and pac.
But you get why I said it. Questloves Dilla PR has his constituency making wild claims like "Dilla > Premo, Dre etc"
You think that has to do with Quest working with Dilla in person? Not sure he has ever been in the lab with Premo, Dre, etc
Jealous Ones Envy was one of the best albums of 1995. I wore that album out.
It's crazy that there aren't many actual DITC producers on it...I think only Diamond on Bronx Tale....yet the album sounds totally DITC.

@ people underrating him though, his flow and delivery were impeccable, and he had charisma, unlike Fabolous and Banks. The only punchline rapper of the 2000s that I would really say has surpassed Big L is Cassidy.Dude...I'm a big fan of Big L...he's in my top 5 rappers (That I like to listen to, not counting influence or stuff like that)...but come on...better than Pac and Big?
Big L was talented, but he never really saw his fullest potential...he died too soon. That's why I can't place him up there with the GOATs overall. Unfortunately he never really got to live up to expectations because of his death.

Cassidy matches Big L in terms of delivery, and presence/charisma, and has him beat on punchlines. I will say that his flow is weaker than Big L's though. But then again, it suits his style, and he's able to put more emphasis on delivering his punchlines with convincability.
This is the mistake people always make in regards to Big L. He wasn't just a battle/punchline rapper. L had a lot of versatility, people don't see that. I like Cassidy when it comes to flexing his rhyming skils, but L made and was going to make better albums than Cass. Banks, Papoose, Fab, etc are all carbon copies of L.
