Maybe it's just me, but Tigallo sounded disinterested on Leftback imo. Listening to "Get Enough" brought it home for me. Pooh murks that shyt and has all kinds of energy, while Tay mailed that shyt in.

The break up always felt kinda Outkast-ish. One member wants to RAP and do strictly hip-hop, while the other dude wants to explore r&b and drop verses every now and then.

Listening to Pooh post-break up, i really do think he was held back. When LB started, he was kinda the weak link, but by the time Getback dropped, nikka had gotten waaaay better, now this nikka is a problem.

Pooh is fire man. I agree. His style is just different. He's not the punchline dude. People might not know his background but he used to write short stories and poems before he rapped. So his style is pretty straightforward bu he's got gems in there, and some clever shyt. I think his style fits better in this day and age honestly, because rap is a little less punchliney these days. In the mid 00's Jadakiss and Lloyd Banks and all the mixtape rappers were popping off, and a lot of stuff seemed to be about punch lines if you weren't a ring tone rapper.

Like this new joint from Pooh is incredible.

I mean I'm happy for Pooh and all but seriously...he's just not a top tier rapper and Phonte is. It's just that simple to me. Like, if Little Brother had Kenn Starr instead of Pooh imagine how ill that shyt would be. I could think of a few others too (

Another phonte album would be nice...

not sure about Phonte and Big Pooh. Phonte to me is a superlative artist and another hip hop album from him would be a gift. Pooh isn't on Phonte's level and never was, Pooh's verses were always skippable with his predictable flow and lyrics...it wasn't until the third album he was listenable, and by that time 9th was long gone.
Another Phonte album would be great.

I agree, Pooh was never on Phonte's level, but he was never horrible or anything and I think you can tell the growth in Pooh in each album/mixtape.

Wasn't Little Brother originally supposed Chundon and Tay? I never have heard the full story of that or why it morphed into Pooh and Tay instead. Or maybe I did and just don't remember.

Median was supposed to record on Speed but didn't show up so Pooh did instead and they became a group.

Median was on the way to record Speed with Phonte and 9th bit couldn't make it. They called Pooh and he came through. The song was so good that they decided to be a group.

Chaundon came down from the Bronx. He was the New Yorker in the Justus League, and I think he helped introduce Skyzoo to 9th and everyone.

Crazy how both those artists worked with little brother before they blew up as well.
Yep. J Cole did too, I think? or J Cole's manager/producer, Nervous Wreck.

There was a big connection there. Nervous Wreck did a project with The Away team (Sean Boog & Khrysis)

J Cole produced on this along with Khrysis.

I always liked big pooh as rapper. i mean he was not as good as phonte, but what rapper really is :mjcry: Big Pooh sleeper album was a banger album imo.

Yep. I mean Phonte is one of the greats IMO.

Also, for anyone that liked Sleepers, seriously consider checking out the Sleepers Narcoleptic Outtakes. It's basically songs that were recorded for Sleepers that didn't make the cut. I've posted about it before, but it's all production from 9th Wonder, Khrysis, and Big Dho. It's got solid features. It's got some really good songs that I wish had been on Sleepers. Old National in particular, produced by Khrysis. One of my favorite Pooh solo joints ever.

I also preferred the OG version of Now prod. Khrysis more than the Remix prod. 9th Wonder that featured Murs. The remix ended up on Sleepers, but I liked the original better.

Ignore the title. It's not called Keep The Bling. That's another song that's never been released.

The gap between phonte and pooh is greater than the gap between qtip and phife Dawg and andre 3k and big boi.

Phontes quotes and verses live on, big pooh stay getting dropped from soundclick.

Man...I'll try 10-15.

Speed
Whatever You Say
Love Joint Revisited
The Way You Do It
The Listening
Not Enough
Slow It Down
Watch Me
Hiding Place
Still Lives Through
Hold On (Tellin' Me)
Nobody Like Me
Starvation
Dreams
Boondock Saints

fukk. That's hard. Not possible to do just 10. I really think you have to check the albums all the way through. Definitely I think The Listening, The Minstrel Show, The Chitlin Circuit, and The Chitlin Circuit 1.5 are the best 4 to get into the group. Then people should check Foreign Exchange's Connected album and Big Pooh's Sleepers album.

In my mind Getback, Separate But Equal (DJ and DJ free editions) , And Justus For All (DJ and DJ free editions), and Leftback are like LB 2.0. Still good, but I wouldn't introduce a new listener to them that way.

Phonte's Charity Starts at Home is really dope but it's 2011 and way past the LB days.

It's impossible to come up with a top 10 list. It would change every time I tried.

If I had to pick a song, I think Hold On might be my favorite LB song.

Hold On is incredible. I HATED that it didn't make The Minstrel Show final cut. I bought the Import edition just to have that song. Top 5 Phonte verse ever IMO. Also one of Pooh's best verses.

Both verses are :mjcry:
